The illustrations were absolutely amazing, but I feel like the plot was going a little bit all over the place.

4,5/5*

I like this one even more than I expected. The art was just beautiful and I loved how Natashas hair always stands out among the more muted colors. It also made me appreciate Natasha as a character even more and I really liked her inner dialogue. After the ending I'm so glad I already own the second volume. ;)

I have always wanted to be a person like Black Widow, but I am not, so this is the closest I get. An amazing comic with little back knowledge of Natasha's past. Without knowing much about her, I hope this series turns out to give some clear insight to her character. I gave it four stars because of the lack of character development, and the random encounters with people she knows. The stay in for about a page and then they leave, with no history or explanation of anything. I guess that is the nature of Black Widow though, she does not want to tell about her past because she is already trying to make up so much for her past transgressions. I hope that Nathan Edmondson does something really amazing with this series because he can make it flourish or he kills it.

A great start to a hopefully amazing series of comics that help sate all of us superhero fan's need for more Black Widow. Phil Noto also is a wonderful illustrator and it takes this to another level.

The artwork in this book is absolutely gorgeous - I genuinely think it might be the most beautiful comic I've ever seen. The plots are for the most part very self-contained, which is great for someone like me who hasn't read many Marvel stories, and is mostly just familiar with the MCU. And the fact that Natasha's emotional growth is conveyed via a burgeoning relationship with a stray cat, is, frankly, amazing. I'll definitely be reading the next two volumes.

Killing, fighting, spying and action. What more can you want. You never really get to know Black Widow, but that is the point.

This is actually the first comic book I have ever read and I really enjoyed it!! The art is so beautiful, I love the watercolor effect it has. Black Widow is my favorite Avenger because she doesn't need special powers to be kick ass! She doesn't have her own movie and not much is known about her from The Avengers except that she is an assassin, so obviously her comic books are the first ones I wanted to read! I love her voice and her cat :D This was a really good choice for me to start out with! I can't wait to finish the rest :D

Better review to follow.
Art was amazing!

From Goodreads:
She may be an Avenger and an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., but the Widow has her own mission: to atone for her past as a KGB assassin. Her methods are dirty. Her heart is cold. But her work is flawless. On an undercover assignment in Russia, she finds that the Hand of God is reaching for her--and it's as merciless as its name. Outmatched by the brute force of this powerful new villain, Natasha discovers a deadly globe-spanning plot. It's a race against time, and the Widow has nowhere to turn for answers. The trail of blood and destruction will test her strength and cunning--but it may also test her faith.

I’m not enamored by the artwork and the storyline is just meh. Black Widow spends most of this graphic novel screwing up and then saying she needs to pay better attention. Over and over again. Boring. And how many times does it need to be mentioned that she feels she must atone for her past sins? Too damn many. Repetition is not your friend. I got it the first time. I’m definitely not interested in continuing this series.
