Black Widow sometimes seems a little lost. In this volume she does some globe trotting contract killing and chats up her lawyer/business manager about how all that fabulous murder for hire money is going to good causes. I found that a little interesting. The Punisher looks for bad people and then kills them for free. Black Widow takes jobs from bad people to kill other bad people and is well paid for the work. I think the Punisher might be the more ethical murderer.
The art is good, but there isn't much of a story and BW seems a little mopey.

Iconic. Showstopper. Spectacular. Beautiful.
This was so good ahhh. Natasha is trying to atone for her past so she takes jobs where she takes out bad guys and then uses that money to give to people she has hurt in the past. She also works for SHIELD and goes on missions, that sometimes go really wrong.
I'm in LOVE with this art. It's so beautiful and the vibe is so chill. Idk why it feels chill to me but the colors and the overall vibe are just *chef's kiss*. Oh she's getting attacked by a huge dude in the street with 2 gatling guns? Okay but the dreamy soft ✨art.✨
The way the action was drawn and facial expressions? It was just done so well. This is the kind of art I will always simp for, not the generic gritty art style it feels like everyone uses.
The entire story is really just a cool spy thriller where Natasha uses her expertise to throw bad guy ass and it was just very entertaining. It's also about how Natasha is closed off and doesn't want to let anyone in, including a stray cat that keeps coming around. This portrayal of her is very quiet and again, chill.
I don't know why my brain has latched on to Black Widow as my number one but here I am. I love when they do right by her, it feels like a gift and this run is sure a gift.

Bullet Review:
This was...okay. I really loved the art (bumped this to 4 stars), but comparing Black Widow to say Hawkeye, Hawkeye has way more personality.
UPDATE: Rounding down to 3 stars, because I can barely remember the "story" when I was talking to a coworker about this comic. Art is still gorgeous though.

I wish the story were as a good as the art; the art is, admittedly, one of the greatest things ever.
Black Widow at her best, with wit and the stone-cold killing skills I love her for. The dialogue and plot are top-notch, and the art is gorgeous, with some really creative panel use. An antidote to the boobs-and-butt cheesecake comics Natasha sometimes has to suffer through.
I read this based off of the word of YouTuber FictionalDarling, who said it was so good it ruined all other comics for her. But I gotta say, as someone who has read Shakespeare, this is the most confusing book I have ever read. Can someone please explain the plot to me? Seems like it’s just juxtaposing a bunch of different jobs she’s had with no order or meaning.
Getting my hands on this volume was worth the wait! I don't usually read Marvel comics but I had to make an exception for 1) Phil Noto's art and 2) the nuanced story behind the woman known as Black Widow. Based on both Marvel films and other comics, we are acquainted with the fact that she was trained to be an assassin since her childhood, but I appreciated letting the readers see her really grappling with her past and deciding to face it rather than burying it.
