One of those times when the movie is far better than the book.

A horror classic that everyone should read. This holds up to the test of time pretty well. Evil kids are always so effing creepy. The film is great, the novel is amazing!

I read this book during a summer babysitting job while in high school, along with The Exorcist and Jaws. What the heck was I thinking? Scared the daylights out of myself on a daily basis in broad daylight!

Not very scary...I was expecting myself hiding under the duvet, but it just didn't live up to the expectations. And I suppose that is why a lot of people prefer the movies.

❝Even if he had known the reason for the sudden turbulence, it would have been too late. For at that moment, in the basement of the Ospedale Generale in Rome, a stone crushed the head of the child that was meant to be his.

The Omen is a story not only about religion and good vs evil but also about family struggles, it was so fast paced and enjoyable, the characters were great and very self aware. I love the fact that Seltzer is not afraid to go all out when it comes to the subject of religion and is not one to beat around the bush. The one thing I love the most about this book is the way scenes were written, Seltzer has a way to make you feel extremely uncomfortable one moment and extremely terrified the next! It was just brilliantly done. I was at the edge of my seat from page one to the last one. I do have to say that although this book was short, some internal dialogue could’ve been trimmed a little and that’s why I had to knock down a star other than that I think it was extremely well done for its time and it’s a book that has preserved itself pretty well throughout
