the book follows the plot of the movie really well with a few minor details changed including the 1st name of imbasador thorn between my edition of the book and the audio book
we get more background information about the priest that gets impaled as well as a more in depth explanation of Katherine thornes issues
in my eyes this is better than the exorcist which the author admits the omen was inspired by

Why wasn’t Mrs. Baylock using toilet paper?!?
The Omen is the well-known story of Damien, a four-year-old child that begins to behave so weirdly that his parents start to believe he is the antichrist. The fact that people drop like flies around him, doesn’t help either. Also, some little hints of his evil aura could come from the ever-watching black hound that follows him everywhere or his strange nanny that seems to be placed there by a higher force to protect his precious offspring.
The book is a novelization of the movie and it really doesn’t bring anything new to the table. The story is basically written almost like a script, without too much emphasis on descriptions or character development. The whole book is mostly driven by the plot, so it has a fairly fast pace all the way through. The ending suffers a little bit in terms of pacing, but I could be a little biased, considering the fact I already knew how it will end.
I expected something more psychological or even scary, but there isn’t much that could scare in this novel. Mostly, I was amused of some inconsistencies – like how Damien had a birthmark on his scalp, in the form of 666. Why would the devil use the Arabic numeral, instead of Hebrew or Aramaic or even Greek numerals, since these languages were used to write the Bible? I would expect a little bit of consistency from the devil.

It's all for you, Damien..."
Holy hell, this is old school horror at it finest! Seltzer delivers in this unsettling tale, it really is all you want it to be and more!

I love this book. I have read it so many times now, the first being when I was a teenager. Its the sort of book that I have to go back to every now and then and it never gets boring. Its the same with all the books in the series and also the films. An excellent read.
I didn’t expect much from the plot itself but when reading I couldn’t put the book down. The writing style was great just like story and with every new page I was more and more invested. I don’t know if there’s a sequel If yes I will read it if not I will cry until one is out
The whole book made me so frustrated. The writing is dense at times, the characters are as interesting as a loaf of bread and are dumb as hell and the story didn't elicit any emotions from me aside from being bored out of my skull. I really wanted to like this but we don't always get what we want, I guess.
