This story was very, very simple, but it, in my understanding, presents, through a metaphor, a severe critic to society and its lack of dreaming, of accepting the difference.

This was unpleasant to read, as it is simply a stream of consciousness coming from a women who is very self conscious at a party. Impressively, despite how short the text is, it manages to explore some deep themes, such as social class. Very anxiety inducing, very Virginia Woolf. Do not recommend if you suffer from social anxiety, otherwise, it’s worth a read.

”Envy and spite, the most detestable of the vices, were her chief faults.”

I think I should read other VW's stories about this Mrs. Dalloway so I could understand better why the heck Mabel was so anxious and insecure about her dress when attending her party.
