Just a decent spooky book… was gonna rate it 3 stars but the ending was really good and surprising!

Not wonderful but at least it wasn't as bloated as some of his later works. Several of his later works should have been much thinner.

I had a surprisingly hard time putting this down. Someone described it to me as a "lesser" Stephen King work, which is true, and I noticed it was written as a 'Richard Bachman' book. (Oh, if only I knew someone that has read almost every Stephen King book and could tell me why he wrote under a pseudonym after becoming an established author.)

The book is slowly paced but still someone captivating. Sadly the end seemed very rushed -- it was a good enough ending, but fast and anticlimactic.

Oof, not only is this not my favorite Stephen King book but it’s not my favorite Richard Bachman book. I don’t think I would’ve finished it if it weren’t for the podcast I want to listen to covering the story and knowing that they’re going to dislike it as much as I did.

My least favorite of King's Richard Bachman experiment, but I still found it a little better than its reputation. It's no surprise at all that this is the one that led to the pseudonym being revealed — it's so obviously his voice and his favorite settings and character types.
