LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT.
Paris is a piece of shit. Alexis Hall doesn’t try to hide this. He is insensitive and insecure and pretentious. He is exhausting to read about. Which makes him the best damn anxiety rep i have read. This book is not for everyone especially if this could trigger you. But that’s the point. So many books gloss over the shit that happens with anxiety to make it easier to read about, so that the character is still sexy and likeable. But not this book. I really appreciate that

This was a hard book to read. I often read 350-400 page books in 2-3 days. This took well over a week. There just wasn’t enough about the characters to make me want to keep going - but I did keep going because I love the Bake Off angle of the book. I loved Rosalind Palmer and was hoping for another quirky character type romance - but this wasn’t it. This was a pretty hard look at mental health and whether people are doing themselves a service or disservice as they try to navigate it. I think Tariq and Paris are in a Happy For Now situation - but they both have some work to do. And the unresolved situation with Paris’ parents is just heartbreaking.

Definitely parts I liked, but overall I felt like one of the characters was developed a lot more than the other.
