Really enjoyed the different perspectives and character developments. Very refreshing take on male perspectives opening up some interesting reflections on modern masculine identity and behaviour. Loved the female characters, as well as the continuous references to other texts. Perhaps my favourite Sally Rooney book yet?

Really struggled with the pace of the book, especially with the lack of quotation marks/paragraphs I had to often re-read pages. Complicated characters dealing with what life throws at you, I like how it ended but parts of it I’m not sure I’m convinced of the feelings there.

Rooney so perfectly captured the human condition. I wanted to hate some of the protagonists based on what I felt was wrongful and exploitative, but their interwoven stories were told so beautifully, they were so complex - as are people. I cared for them all so much by the end, I forgave each of them with my whole heart.

I really felt like she liked her characters in this one. However it could have been 50 pages shorter at least, as it was suuuper slow at times.

Lovely. I didn’t love Rooney’s more recent work (normal people set a high bar), but this was a great exploration of sibling relationships, power dynamics, etc.
