it’s an interesting concept, there are some parts that were a bit repetitive (as if the author wrote something and then forgot about it three pages later), but i love this take on the fairytale story retelling, it’s entertaining

So this book switches perspectives which isn't my favorite. I could not care less about Kai so all of his chapters were boring. But the other characters' chapters were interesting and the ones that annoyed me at the beginning ended up being enjoyable at the end. The best part of this book is the world building. It's amazing how much sci-fi Meyer puts into the stories while still adhering to a vague storytale retelling. It was an enjoyable book, what can I say.

I'm 51% through this the second installment, and just now figured out that Iko is Pinnochio. I'm the dumbest nerd.

I still haven't figured out who Carswell is, but I hope he's not the Steadfast Tin Soldier.

It took a little while to get used to the new characters who told the majority of the story, but they quickly became just as endearing as Cinder and Prince Kai. I continue to be fascinated by this story and the world Meyer has created for her characters. Looking forward to book three.

The first book was pretty good and I enjoyed it, but somewhere along the line that turned into NEEDING to read the rest and saving Scarlet as a reward for myself (and subsequently binging it, what else is new). It's a fever on the brain, honestly. And I fucking LOVED this one, holy shit.
