This really is a good book. I enjoyed the story line and the characters were well written but, I could not get past the vulgarity of the book as a whole. I am not a blushing violet. I've read books with bad language peppered through out. This book went above and beyond the bad language. I wanted to stop reading when I realized what the biker babes were called routinely and vulgarly (no spoilers here) but I really wanted to see how the book would conclude. I trudged on and was rewarded with a very nice ending wrapped up with a bow. I won't read any more of the biker series though. It's a bit too much going on for me. If I could have a rate R version instead of X, then I might take a chance.

But, if that sort of thing doesn't bother you, I say read on. It's worth it!

Holy smokin' WOW! This book was perfectly filthy and delicious. Ok, now that I've gotten that out, let's talk Hawk. He is such a dirty talking doesn't take no for an answer alpha. He sees his girl and before he even realizes he wants her.... he wants her! I couldn't get enough of this man. The story was amazing, suspenseful, well developed with some twisty surprises.
I read lots, lots, lots of MC and the grittier and dirtier the better, but this author might have made me blush a time or two. You go girl!

Book one of the Insurgents MC series by Chiah Wilder.
Hawk is the clubs VP and has started to be targeted by local police.
Thats when Cara comes in to story she is hired by the club to protect Hawk.
they have a incredibly steamy on/off start where they tease each other till you think the book will go up in flames.
they tease each other for a good while and dont actually have sex till quite late but the dancing and steamy events are worth the wait.
looking forward to the club cleaning up and everyone getting a HEA. if you like Kristen Ashley then you'd definitely enjoy this series.

The bikers were a little to rough and rude for me through out but not my normal scene. Fell in love with Hawk and couldn't put it down

I had to force myself to finish this one. It was painful. This just didn't work for me. Not a single thing. It was over the top in every way.

Hawk, if any man ever walked up to me and spoke to me they way he did I'd slap them. I don't care if you're a bad arse biker or the pope there is NO reason to say slut and whore as often as he did. It was redundant and insulting to read. I love me an alpha man but there was nothing about this character that was alpha, he was jerk who didn't respect a women who continually told him NO. I have a terrible mouth, I swear a lot and even I thought his swearing was too much, to the point of being unreadable.

BUT my biggest problem with this book was the slut shaming these characters did. Every girl in the entire book was either a slut or whore. If you wore a short skirt or tight top you're a slut. If you want to have sex with 5 guys at one time, you're a whore. OMG I get it. And let's not forget that this club said they were against rape and yet they put women in that situation over and over again. Unless you have safewords, no still means no and anyone who doesn't respect that...

The annoying lead girl, who shockingly was stupid and selfish, I honestly don't remember her name right now, she said no to the Hawk constantly and he kept shoving his tongue down her throat. I don't care what her "body" was saying, No means NO! Hello? Am I the only one who thought him forcing himself on her was wrong?

Slow. Cara got on my nerves. Ok she was hurt by her old boyfriend. She gets mad at Hawk because he call her a slut, but she made herself that when she tells him it was one time deal and she need to get back to her life. Frustrated with this book. Didn't finish the book

Excellent MC series start!

Wow! This is so full of yummy goodness, intrigue, murder, mayhem and love...it has it all! Hawk and Cara's relationship was a crazy whirlwind. I love that Hawk never gave up on Cara and claimed her before she even knew she wanted to be claimed. They are explosive in and out of the sheets! I am super excited to read more of this author and series!

I feel like I gave this book a really good go.
Hawk is a massive bellend. WHY make the m/c hero a dick? Why? This just isn't the sort of guy I feel like this book wants to make sexy nah, this is the guy you kick to the curb for being awful and find someone who isn't like this.
I ignored him sleeping with someone else after meeting her although I didn't like it I couldn't grumble because they just met but its constant. He acts like such a pig I really can't see myself liking him or even thinking he's hot. And for someone super smart and a lawyer shes a bloody moron. a) drink driving, she was no way OK to drive (its a book I'm aware but still) b) she lets Hawk touch her after shes told him to step off. I just thought this seemed far too close to a rape/assault for me to like this book.

Humm... for some reason I'm really struggling with a review for this book. Over all I really enjoyed the characters and the plot line.

Cara is a criminal defense lawyer who has sworn off men after she caught her fiance cheating on her during their last year in law school. Hawk is the VP of the Insurgents MC a surprisingly overall clean MC as far as dealings go, though just because the MC is mostly clean does not mean that they are any less dangerous or hard(for lack of better word).

Cara and Hawk first meet when Cara's friend drags her to a Biker Bar so she (the friend) can scope out the bar tender. After a brief but intense encounter Cara hightails... I mean politely excuses her self so that she can drive her drunk friend home. Their next encounter comes when Hawk walks into her office in need of a lawyer and advice on how to deal with the constant harassment that hes been getting from the Police.

From that point forward Hawk just zero's in on Cara and peruses her aggressively. It's not a love at first sight thing and he is by no means a knight on a white horse coming to woo his lady. Hawk is crude, hard, temperamental and possessive in his pursuit of Cara. And Cara doesn't make things easy for him, wary of not putting herself in a position of being dis-bared and still very hesitant to trust a man or even trust her heart and go against what is expected of her, Cara leads Hawk on a merry chase even as she tries not to.

Best part of this book for me is that once Hawk meet Cara the second time that was it, not 'love' but rather he just wasn't interested in other women. I really hate the books where the lead guy is pursuing a woman but still has sex with other women during that time.

Aside from the romance there is a great plot involving a rival MC and a serial killer. The POV's aren't labeled which worked for this book because it keeps the mystery going. I was fully surprised at the end of the book when the Killer was reviled, and while it was a bit of a sad discovery it was also nice to have that surprise.

Other highlights for me included Cara's friends Sherrie and Josh as well as Cara's father. Loved how he treated Cara like her happiness was more important to him than what her being with Hawk might do to the families reputation.

Over all 4.5 stars. Not sure that I'll read the second book but the third sounds intriguing.

My first book by Chiah Wilder but won't be my last. Good strong characters although Cara did have a TSTL moment she survived it.
