Was hoping this would be a fun old series to go through, but it sucked.

Ok, but not great. Strong language.

I probably won't be finishing this. I don't care for Grafton's writing style and the main character has no personality. It's hard for me to visualize the story if I can't connect to the characters.

Always wanted to check out these "_ is for _" books by Grafton. I see them at random at book sales all the time, so I thought I'd give the audio book a listen. I do not care for it so far, and I can't STAND this narrator.

10/20 - I'm not saying I will never read another book by Sue Grafton. However, I will have to apply two rules to this.

1) I will NEVER read another book narrated by whoever this woman is. She sounds like an incompetent Ellen Degeneres, and since I don't have a problem with Ellen's voice, I find it grating that I have a problem with hers. Her male voices are literally laughable, and her female voices sound like a man trying to mimick a woman. GOD that's irritating.

2) I will go into these books knowing that Grafton can write some SERIOUSLY convoluted stories. I don't understand WTF I just listened to/read. She took too long getting to some parts, and not long enough explaining others.

I do enjoy a good murder mystery. This was not a good murder mystery. But, if I happen to stumble across a free version of another book in this series, I might be willing to give it a try.

This is my first Sue Grafton book and I really enjoyed it. I read it in part as part of a 2012 fiction genre challenge I took on at the beginning of this year. But I enjoy a good mystery and have read several Dorothy Sayre books over the years. This is the first of the Kinsey Millhone alphabet series.
I found it to be challenging and engaging with good twists and turns and Kinsey is definitely NOT Miss Marple!

first of Sue Grafton books i have read so figured i start from the beginning. i enjoyed the book with the different twist and turns along the way. i did have an idea who did it 3/4 away trough the book but took almost to the end to confirm. i will be looking forward to continuing my way trough the alphabet with her.
