I really don't care who all of her lovers were and yet she insisted on telling the "writer" all about it.
Some people enjoy french vibes and introspection, stories consisting of vibes and beautiful people drifting past each other and occasionally talking or sleeping together. I do not. I don't like a chronicle of who slept with who when under what circumstances.
I found the claiming of every piece of outstanding art to be part of the power of this old god and yet he stops at war of all things, which meant he is also just another art student, really annoying. As I said, I'm sure Shakespeare would get a kick out of so many fictional devils claiming his patronage but I am sure Jeanne de Arc would have a very different opinion on that.
Every character was an artist/art student/art critic in this book, including the antagonist. Annoying as hell.
I don't like to not finish books so I forced myself through to but really, no, not my taste at all.
What earned this book it's second star was that it was for once the 300 year old woman with the young man in his late 20s instead of the other round. Refreshing.

I love that the characters were flawed but in a relatable way. I related to Henry so much it hurt—“blink and you’re 28 and everyone is a mile ahead of you.” I cried.
I love how reflective and descriptive the writing style was.
I love the Dorian Gray-coded plot and the twists around the plot.
I love the themes of art being a human mark and love versus possession.
I hate how for a minute there I also fell for the devil.
Honestly 5/5 stars. It was amazing.
