A strange but mesmerising story about sisters, sisterhood, puberty and all that comes with it including menstruation/periods, and then added some monsters/magical beings... which I agree with other reviews I am still not sure if it was real or all a metaphor. I would have liked it to be a bit clearer, or maybe that there is a portal that one can enter/or that opens when someone of age is close by, that sort of thing. Plus, yes, I agree that it was a bit clunky in how the story went and some changes were just a bit too easily shown/too rushed. Oh, and while I could understand the younger/middle sister and her feelings, she was also just way too annoying at points. I get that you want to be with your sister but if she doesn't want to that is fine and you should accept that.
Still it was a fun read with gorgeous art and gorgeous scenarios, and a ton of potential to be even bigger and grander! I flew through this one!

3 sisters one on the verge of puberty. Change is happening and the middle sister is feeling the loss of her best friend.

Honestly, I thought Sisters of the Mist was kind of a scattered but well-intentioned mess. I did think the sisters' relationships felt honest, but the timeline seemed incredibly crunched and rushed, and the mist storyline didn't work for me.
This is meant to be a short review, so I won't go on about the fact that this book presents one version of a girl going through puberty as if it were the only good and "normal" way for it to happen, but that is something I noticed as I was reading, too.
I liked the artwork, though, and 11yo C. thought it was a good story despite her current aversion to anything involving any variety of puberty-related discussion, so I wouldn't write it off entirely. I think it's just one of those comics that is only going to appeal to its target audience.
(two and a half stars)

Very cute, though the story felt quite rushed. The art was stunning, and the worldbuilding was intriguing. I wish we had had more time to establish the characters and their relationships with one another.
