Significantly better then the first book, I feel like Apollo has his personality sorted out. 
I enjoyed this, but I do still feel weird reading it, as the emotional whiplash isn't exactly to my taste.
The fip flop between comidic one liners and depressing situations was...ok

This was a re-read for me. I really loved seeing Leo again and seeing his relationship with Calypso grow and develop. I also love the parallels between Apollo and Calypso learning to deal with their newfound mortality. Overall this was a really interesting continuation of the series, and I love how complicated the prophecies are getting. Especially since Apollo is the god of prophecy.

Apollo is seriously such a fun narrator. In general, I think Riordan is just great at injecting humor into these books, no matter who's narrating the story. But he's really been nailing it in this series so far, balancing the humor with the darker things that are happening in the overall arc of the story. Those memories we get of Meg's towards the end? Oof. Definitely adds to her character development, though!

Since this is the third series set in this Greek/Roman mythology world, I'm enjoying that we're getting to see a bunch of other characters from previous books. It's like a fun little scavenger hunt, seeing who get to see next. I'm always a fan of interconnected books like this anyway, especially since this just keeps building on what we already know.

Can't wait to see what adventures are in store next for Apollo!

Toxic relationship is in reference to a familial relationship. Also, in case there's anyone else out there that also gets freaked out by foreign objects going into someone's facial orifices,

there is a scene toward the end of the book where spectral bees are flying into Meg's nose, mouth, ears and tear ducts. Then a bit later in the chapter, they go into Apollo, and he says he can feel them ricocheting around his respiratory system. Meg's description is only one sentence, while Apollo's is few more lines.
