You never know with Marie Force, what the main character would be..This time around Quinn, an MD is also an army vet and a modified soldier. How wonderful for him to hook up with a ER nurse, someone who sees beyond his stump and combat modifications. So happy that Kara and Dan got the wedding of her dreams. I'm mowing through this series, one book after the other.
Marie Force always delivers! Whether it’s a short novella or a full-length story. LIGHT AFTER DARK is no exception.
Mallory is a brilliant heroine. She’s smart, loving and dedicated to her craft. But she’s got a lot of resentment and hurt in her heart. I loved that she was flawed and strong enough to recognize when she needed help. I enjoyed watching her grow and rediscover herself.
The hero is equally flawed but so very endearing. He and Mallory worked well together and I also enjoyed their courtship! Ms. Force wanted the hero to be a surprise so I won’t mention his name in the review, but I do love her sense of humor! As the story begins, she introduced not one but two different men and it’s still a while before we know who the hero is!
This is my first read of the series and because it’s Book 16, I wasn’t privy to many of the relationships in the story. There are many couples and I found myself wanting to know more about them, how they met and all the follies that ensued during their own courtships! You can definitely read this as a standalone, but to get the full Gansett Island experience, I’d start at the beginning. And the first book, MAID FOR LOVE is currently a FREE eBook!
The writing was great, the story even greater. I’d recommend any of her books (The Green Mountain series is my favorite). You’ll always get a quality read full of heart!
***I voluntarily read an early copy of the book offered to me in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***

It was a mystery who would Mallory be paired with. I have to admit I did not wonder much because I knew I was gonna love whoever it was. I remember the huge smile that broke on my face when I realized who it would be. They were absolutely perfect together. The whole story was beyond perfection and I cannot wait for the next
While I really enjoyed Mallory and Quinn's story, I think that it could have waited. I didn't feel that I knew enough about Mallory to really be into her story and felt even more so about Quinn. The author tried to infuse background about the two of them throughout the book but it wasn't enough. As a matter of fact, so many chapters were devoted to catching the reader up with other members of the family that in total, very little, in my opinion, was left to hold my interest about Mallory and Quinn.
I also wasn't sure what the purpose was of hinting at a potential love triangle unless Mason is due to have his own story at some point and this was a way to introduce him. With the mentions about Mallory's best friend, I wonder if she will make it to the island at some point as well.
Not my favourite in the series but I'm hoping for a rebound with the next book.

Marie Force’s Gansett series has really kept me going in 2020, reading has been a lot slower for me this year and I have not got through books quickly at all, but with Marie Force’s Gansett books I can take my time and fall back in with the series anytime, even if I’ve not had chance to pick up the book for a few days. This one took about a week to read. I really loved Mallory and Quinn.
Maybe it's me, but it seemed like there was a lot more sex in this story than in previous ones, and it got tiresome.
I thought Quinn and Mallory were really good together. I liked them both as a couple and as individuals. Their dialogue was witty, sweet, and sometimes solemn. They shared more than a date of birth. They also shared secrets that were hard for them to discuss with anyone else.
There were so many updates on other Gansett couples that I enjoyed, but I would have loved to spend more time with Quinn and Mallory's blooming relationship.
One thing about the Gansett Island books and the associated characters is that You will always find a number of them dealing with real life issues, and sometimes there are not necessarily happy endings for some of the issues. You can count on the characters always prevailing with the love and support of family and friends.
As usual, when the McCarthy's friends and family get together, there is a party and hilarity ensues. They are always good for laughs and some seriously sexy encounters.

I love this series so very very much. Force has me completely immersed in this island and with this family of people. I'm always excited for another new book in the series and to be able to be transported into another great love story.
