Isn't discovering a new author and falling in love with their writing extraordinary? That's what happened to me with Grace Reilly! The first book in her Beyond the Play series, First Down, hooked me from the beginning. It's a swoon-worthy fake dating romance that kept me glued to the pages. I was impressed with how Grace created a vivid college atmosphere in the story. It felt like I was transported right to the middle of the McKee University campus alongside the characters. The plotline was realistic, and the characters felt genuine. It was refreshing to read a college romance that didn't focus on unnecessary relationship angst and drama. The blossoming relationship between James and Bex was delightful; their banter was so much fun, and the spice was positively perfect! The side characters were also enjoyable, especially the rest of the Callahan family, and I'm excited to read their stories! First Down is a college sports romance you don't want to miss!

I did a hybrid read/listen to this fantastic book, and I have to say, it was an absolute delight to listen to! The audiobook narration by Kyle Adams and Caroline Sorunke was simply wonderful! They brought James and Beckett to life with their outstanding performances and made it an incredibly fun experience to listen to. I highly recommend this one if you're looking for a great audiobook!

The writing was mediocre, the male narrator of the audiobook was terrible and it really should have had better trigger warnings. There were direct and indirect DV references and I really wish I’d known before starting to read it.

Since I haven't been able to watch much of football season, this was a nice taste of it--minus all the mid game advertisements haha.

It's a fun book--3.5 stars cause it's fun but I'll probably never read it again.

Fake Dating to I Love You. Throwing the National Championship to prove a point.

Really enjoyed Beckett as a female character's name. Reminded me of being down South and the naming practices (wouldn't have expected it for a NY born and raised character).

The Callahan family is fun minus the dad Richard. Love Sandra the mom, she knows what's up.

Darryl was an ass. Hope he got expelled or suspended.

Interested to see how much more of Bex and James we'll see in the rest of the series.

I really enjoyed this book and found it to be a quick read (less than a day to finish on my Kindle!) Has the touch her and I’ll kill you vibes. Coming off of reading Icebreaker, I wanted another easy college sports romance and this did not disappoint!

I did not like the resolve, as it felt a bit rushed. But despite that, I enjoyed the characters and world that was built - so I look forward to reading the other 2 books in the Beyond the Play series by her!

Cute, quick, light read, and I love how hard James fell for Bex.
