Enjoyable read, funny at times. Had a hard time getting into it during the first part but got a lot more into it when Edith was introduced. Not all that exciting, all things considered but still a nice read!

As an ex-honkonger I loved this. Really captured the feeling of living in HK and the story was just very well nuanced, half relatable and half what is going on here.

Na początku miałam wrażenie, ze znajduję się w gąszczu naprzemiennego piętnowania klasy średniej i wyższej, aby następnie poczuć, jak okropnie zdawać sobie sprawę, że jesteśmy determinowani i negatywnie postrzegani, wyłącznie za nasze zwyczajne pochodzenie. Przecież to nasza wina, że mimo naszego wysokiego ilorazu inteligencji, rodzice nigdy nie zapłacą nam za Oxford czy też Cambridge. Przede wszystkim historia składa się jednak z dwóch przeciwległych, ostro zarysowanych portretów relacji, kolejno damsko-męskiej i damsko-damskiej. Kiedy już wdrożyłam się w całkiem drobiazgową i momentami erudycyjną narrację, przepadłam bez końca i pozwoliłam się ponieść się psychice głównej bohaterki. A trzeba zaznaczyć, że była to podróż pełna nieścisłości, impulsywności i zawahań.

Incredibly boring. Ava is a horribly boring and lacks any personality. Pretends to care about the world but ignores everything and just fucks rich people.
