Fantastic, dark, haunting, and to the point. Beautiful illustration. A quick must-read for all ages.

Occasionally one of the books I grab for the kids is so good, that I have to add it to my goodreads account. Magnificent art and storytelling!

“You are mine!”
This is a short tale about mans hubris and greed. Fausto walks up to the flowers and the mountains etc and arrogantly shouts “you are mine”, however not everything accepts his claims. This leads to a wonderfully dark twist at the end. Jeffers illustrations are excellent as always. This book seems to be aimed at a slightly older audience, than Jeffers usual works, but can still be found in the children’s section. However I think it would be more suitable and impactful for an older child.

Such a simple book with such powerful message about human greed, selfishness and need for power.
This book shows how humans destroy and try to take charge of nature but how ultimately nature will always be more powerful. The ending is shocking and very much drives the message home.
It would be interesting to discuss with children the significance of colour and pathetic fallacy as well as discussing how the emotion of anger will not always get us what we want.

Incredibly beautiful artwork, better than the story, which works ok until the end. But lovely to get lost in that ocean...
