Somehow I very much enjoyed the story. When reading it you could feel the haze the main character is in. Even though the book is slow based, it feels tense so it was easy to keep reading. 

I really enjoyed reading the book; the ending however.

it was, in fact, not a year of rest and relaxation, but rather a year of turmoil and taxidermy dogs. this was as apathetic and disturbing as it was tender and emotional. this novel held my attention from start to finish, and i’m so excited to explore more from moshfegh.

Unreliable narrator who isn't really a good person yet you sympathize with her. The descriptions of her thoughts and feelings are extremely raw and honest, you can't help but relate to them.

DNF’d about 60 pages in. This book is grotesque and I find myself physically pulling away from the kindle every few pages because it’s just intentionally nasty. Just got thru a passage where the main character poops on the floor of an art gallery and shoved her used TP into the mouth of a taxidermy dog. Not my cup of tea. After checking reviews, it seems that the book continues this way, so I won’t be finishing it.
