This was not the right book to read to distract me from my current life situation of anxious attachment with someone new while navigating the fallout of
my two best friends dating each other
Also all of the pop culture references took years from my life. Finally, what New Yorker would purposefully go on multiple dates in Times Square.

This was a book club selection. (Full disclosure: it was the one book I didn’t vote for.)
It seems silly for someone who is no longer a young adult to say about a YA book that he found it, well, juvenile. Cute, sure, but not particularly compelling. The authors try hard to be original yet the end result is pretty derivative and follows familiar mechanism of plot and perspective.
Three stars because I don’t want to be mean, and because I am not the target audience. My personal take on it would probably be fewer.

What If It’s Us
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Can we just acknowledge the amount of cuteness in this book

i really loved and enjoyed the book, i'm just not happy with the ending. like i just read an entire book with them overcoming all these kind of stuff and they just end up being best friends, even 15 months later after they broke things off on new york. i was really rooting for them and i really thought they would end up together.

maybe im just being stupid but i really thought this would have had a different ending. like i do like the idea of staying friends after you break things off, like that it a really nice sample and something more people should do cause there is nothing wrong with staying friends after you break things off.

i just wanted a different ending. but i do really love the book and i recommend this book to everyone. just the ending, damn it.

The story is sweet and romantic. I loved the “meet cute”. But I felt like I was missing a first book. The characters seemed like they had these deep backstories, and they were just barely alluded to. Maybe the authors could do follow up/ prequel…please?

favorite line:

“I think about the giant gaping hole in my heart, exactly the size of Ben's fist.”
