I saw Chanel Cleeton wrote this one on Netgalley and had to request it. I had no idea it was an old book of hers, but I consider myself lucky to get to read more from her.

Maggie isn't like her crowd of friends at her college, the International School in London. She's there on a scholarship. She's not from a wealthy family, but was raised by her grandparents in a small home in South Carolina. The people who are supposed to lovers her never stick around and this has defined most of her life. Samir is her best friend Fleur's cousin and part of her group of friends. He thinks he's God's gift to women and behaves as such. At the end of her freshman year and his junior one, the two hook up, fully knowing he has a girlfriend and commitments back in Lebanon. But when they both return to school in the fall, it's not so easy to just be friends.

This was very sweet and very unlike all the historical fiction I've read from Cleeton previously. I didn't look up anything so the setting and time period surprised me a bit, knowing what I've read of hers before. I enjoyed it though. It was a quick read that had a lot of heart.

*I was provided an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

So I find the best stories are the ones I can immediately immerse myself in despite the fact that I read the the previous book months prior. I really liked I See London (read my review here) but I loved London Falling.

London Falling picks up with Maggie back in the states and Samir back in Lebanon with his girlfriend. Other than a couple of text messages, Maggie hasn’t heard from Samir. Maggie’s spent the summer lamenting about her non-relationship with Samir to her best friend Jo. Little does Maggie know, she isn’t the only one affected.

London Falling is told from both Maggie and Samir’s POV which I really enjoyed. In the first book we only got to see Samir through Maggie’s eyes and he came off a bit like a pompous jerk at times. This time around we get to see that he really is a bit pompous, but very loveable, and also extremely vulnerable. Growing up in Lebanon within a powerful political family is not without its pressures. The pressure to succeed, to make the family proud, to marry the right person… Samir must choose between who he wants to be and what his parents, specifically his father, expect of him.

As Maggie and Samir attempt to navigate their ever-evolving feelings for each other, they aren’t without company. Fleur, Mya, Michael, and a few other alum make for a thrilling year at the International School. I must say Fleur is still my favorite. With her often conflicting personality, “The Ice Queen” really has a heart of gold and will do just about anything to make sure her friends are happy. I love that she grows exponentially as a character throughout the series and let’s be honest, I’d be okay with a Fleur spin-off.

One of my only issues with book one was Maggie. She came off as a bit immature and hypocritical (as most of us are at 19) . Don’t get me wrong, I still found her endearing but I was hoping for some sort of character growth after the ending of book one. Although she started off a bit shaky, making a few poor decisions, she did slowly begin to transform into a much more rational adult. It was nice to see her evolve and begin to challenge some of her previous insecurities.

Going back to Samir, I was worried he would be very two–dimensional but I was glad to see he was given a voice and that we got to see his doubts and what he was thinking and feeling. It made the relationship and chemistry between them become something more than physical attraction. I loved the tension and burn between Maggie and Samir.

I have to admit, I was pretty dazzled, much like Maggie, with the lives many of the students at the International School lead. It amazed me that Samir could just jump on a private jet and zip back home to Lebanon. Not to mention the exclusive clubs and endless supply of the best of everything. I enjoyed living vicariously through them, ;)

With London as a backdrop and enough drama (friends, school, family, and otherwise) London Falling was a fantastic follow-up to I See London. It was everything I could want and more!

Chanel Cleeton seriously surprised me with the first book in the International School series, I See London, but that was nothing compared to London Falling. London Falling was everything I could have wanted in a sequel and it left me with the biggest smile on my face.

The cast of characters from the first book is back and better than ever. Maggie has grown more confident in herself but she still has her small town charm. She’s still a bit clueless when it comes to some things (which I loved) but she’s changed a lot from the scared girl at the beginning of I See London. Samir has also changed a ton. He’s no longer the cocky manwhore from book one. He’s still cocky as ever but he’s set his sights on one girl and one girl only. Watching him put forth a real effort to get Maggie was great. He’s definitely a guy who has always had things handed to him so it was good to see him work for something. He and Maggie really were perfect for each other. Their differences were enough to keep things interesting between the two of them but they had enough in common that they never ran out of things to banter about. Their banter was seriously adorable. As for the rest of the characters, I think Fleur was my favorite. Fleur was cocky and kind of cold in the first book. She is nothing like that in London Falling. Readers really get a glimpse of the vulnerable side of Fleur this time around and it left me hoping that she will get her own book soon.

The story was nothing spectacular or pulse pounding but it was enough to keep my attention. The different settings throughout the course of the book really helped move things along. If you’re a fan of travel in your books, the International School series is definitely perfect for you. I’d also definitely recommend this one if you are a fan of steamy romances! Samir and Maggie have some amazing chemistry that makes from some definitely sexytimes.

Overall, I really have no complaints about London Falling. I can’t recommend this duology enough for new adult fans. I look forward to reading more from Chanel Cleeton especially if it centers around any of the characters from these books.

Oh it felt so good to be back in Maggie and Samir’s world. Chanel, I adore you and I don’t know why I didn’t put you on my favorite author list before, but you are there now.

In London Falling, Maggie has returned to London after break, after her night with Samir at the end of the last school year. She is waiting to see him, to see how things are between the two of them. Are they going to pick up where they left off? Or are things going to be awkward now that they have slept together? We know though that Samir’s father has his life planned out for him and it doesn’t include an American girl.

I loved loved loved London Falling. I don’t I felt like I had so much invested in this couple, I am blaming Chanel Cleeton for making me fall in love with them, with all of them. Fleur and Maya are back and there is side story with Fleur that I am hoping will spin off into its own book because I want more from this group. I didn’t want to leave them behind as I swiped over to the last page. This is one of those books that I wanted to devour as quickly as possible because I wanted to know where one of my favorite couples would end up and then after I read it so quickly (a few hours) I was mad at myself because I should have slowed down and savored it. Two hundred and eighty two pages went by too fast. This is one of the few series that I would like to reread, I just enjoyed these two books so much.

London Falling is an amazing follow up to I See London. It had everything I hoped for: sexiness, friendship, humor, drama, London, and more Samir and Maggie. Chanel, I don’t suppose we could talk you into another book about them? I know their story ended in this one, but I could totally go for more. I adored it!

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy of London Falling that I received to facilitate this review. When I saw it, I knew I had to have it. I had to know where this couple was going.

The Review

Maggie’s back at the International School in London. This place has become her home away from home, where she finally feels like she can be herself. She has two amazing new friends and is loving her major. But this year isn’t like last year. Last year, she was finding her groove and dancing around her attraction for Samir, the sexy and out-of-her league junior. And after one hot night giving into temptation right before summer break, Maggie can’t forget about him. Now she’s back at school where Samir is close enough to touch. But Maggie also remembers the London Falling by Chanel Cleetondrama and heartbreak; the two different worlds they live in; and oh yeah that Smair still has a Lebanese girlfriend. But as much as she wants to stay away, it’s getting harder and harder to resist.

Samir is finishing up his last year of university in London before he has to return to Lebanon and follow in his father’s footsteps. He can’t afford to fall for someone like Maggie–who is so far removed from his world. But he can’t seem to keep his hands off her. Even knowing that when his senior year is up he won’t be able to keep her, Samir can’t help but keep wanting Maggie. As time ticks down, they’ll both have to fight to survive the consequences of their relationship and find a future together.

I really enjoyed I See London, Cleeton’s first book in the series. I loved watching the push and pull of Maggie and Samir’s attraction throughout the novel. I also liked seeing Maggie’s progression as a character being faced with new experiences during her first year of university. Maggie had a lot of growing up to do and in New Adult fashion she was definitely learning.

What’s great about London Falling, is that we get to see both Maggie and Samir grow this time. Cleeton chose to write this novel in alternating perspectives instead of just through Maggie’s eyes. Although I wasn’t too keen on it in the beginning, I definitely grew to like it once we saw more of Samir’s struggles later on in the novel. By the end of the novel, I felt like we saw Samir grow more than Maggie this time which was great to watch. I also loved how both characters seemed to find their freedom in this novel. They definitely grew into themselves by the end.

The romance was definitely hot and heavy this time around. Although Maggie was still struggling with her attraction for Samir, she was way more receptive to him then in the first novel. Already knowing what is was like to be with him, she craved him even more then before. Cleeton did a great job mixing the romance scenes with the relationship building scenes. It was more than just a romance book. Cleeton was able to show how both characters were growing through their relationship–true to the New Adult genre.

The only thing I really had a problem with was the timing of the novel. Sometimes the timing seemed a bit jumpy and the transitions a little off. I think this was mainly because the novel was based around a whole school year and Cleeton was trying to fit everything in during that time frame. I didn’t come across it too much, but definitely think it can be cleaned up in future novels.

Overall, I really enjoyed the second half of Maggie and Samir’s story. I fell in love with them and their relationship in the first book and was super excited to see how it turned out. London Falling definitely had me “falling” for it! Although I’d recommend reading I See London first, this novel could definitely be read as a stand alone. I’d recommend a nice sunny day (preferably at a beach ;) ) to sit back and relax with this book. Even though it takes place during the school year, it’s a definite summer beach read for me!

Review posted Book Lovin' Mamas

Chanel Cleeton did an amazing job on the sequel to I See London. I thought Chanel put me through the ringer in the first book…oh boy was I wrong. Don’t get me wrong, I was prepared for Maggie and Samir to have a difficult time because these two came from two different worlds, but Chanel made it more difficult with the details of what Samir and Maggie were going through individually. I was prepared for the ending to be different, but Chanel gave the perfect ending to such a beautiful couple.

In London Falling, Chanel picks up where I See London left at, and how Maggie is confused with Samir. He hasn’t contacted her since there moment together at the end of last semester, so she has no idea how he feels about her. Chanel gives Maggie and Samir such a hard time on making up their minds what they are going to do, but she had their relationship grow through the book. They were tested constantly and they proved that they were lying to each other about what was going to truly to come.

I love when an author can switch from different points of views and make the reader feel for both characters. Oh, I how I loved Maggie and Samir from the moment they met in I See London, but in London Falling they are tested completely. Samir is from a prestigious family in Lebanon that is preparing him to take his father’s legacy. His family wants him to marry a Lebanese woman and Samir is confused with what he wants. Maggie is from South Carolina and she’s dealing with her father not being around and her mother leaving her. She knows she doesn’t belong in Samir’s life, but for the little time she wants to enjoy being with Samir.Gosh darn it…throughout the whole book I was rooting for these two to be together because they belonged together.

I loved every bit of London Falling just as much as I did I See London, and I”m really going to miss Maggie and Samir. They both have become a favorite couple of mine this year to read. Chanel did an amazing job on making me fall for such a stubborn, lovable, and steamy couple (together). I also adored learning more about Fleur in London Falling and hope we get more of her in the future. She needs her happily ever after too. The poor girl needs to find the perfect boy just like Maggie did.

If you enjoy New Adult romances that have a couple that involve opposites attracting and includes tension, angst, steamy moments, and heartaches than this is the book for you. I give this book five full moons and highly recommend it to New Adult readers out there.

I’m so glad I was introduced to Chanel Cleeton’s books from InkSlinger PR because I have found an author I look forward to reading more from in the future. =)

I received a complimentary copy of the book from Netgalley via the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

London Falling is the sequel to I See London, and book two of the International School series. This series features romance, international travel, diversity, friendship and family drama, and has a college setting. Chanel Cleeton is a fresh new voice in New Adult and her books are addictive summer reads. London Falling works okay as a standalone, though I’d recommend starting with the first book, I See London, to get the whole backstory. The romance has a bigger payoff that way.

American student Maggie is studying at the International School in London. She falls in with a wealthy gang of fellow students, including school playboy Samir. Maggie and Samir have chemistry but obstacles stand in their way of romance. Plus, he’s planning to graduate soon and follow in his father’s footsteps in politics in Lebanon. Maggie comes from more humble origins, while Samir has the world at his fingertips, even though he doesn’t necessarily want to play the role he was born into. These two have just have one year together before they go their separate ways- will they be able to say goodbye after graduation?

London Falling is Samir’s as well as Maggie’s story –both have family baggage, and this book benefits with dual pov. It’s interesting to get Samir’s side of the story in this installment, since the first book was all about Maggie’s impressions of him. Maggie is scared of getting hurt by Samir, and knows that the odds are against them. But it’s a surprise to learn that Samir is just as insecure about their relationship and fears losing her.

Are you traveling to any exotic locales this summer? Me, not so much. So it’s fun to travel vicariously through this book, especially since Maggie and her friends really know how to live it up. Just like in I See London, expect some fun side trips.

I enjoyed this book even more than I See London. I liked the focus on Samir and Maggie, and their struggles together and apart. Things were not always easy but the drama never felt manufactured. The romance is the focus of the book, but there were other stories at play as well that kept the book balanced.

The ending satisfies, but I wouldn’t mind seeing these characters again. I know Chanel Cleeton has another new series (Flirting with Scandal in 2015) lined up after this book, but I hope she doesn’t leave us hanging with Maggie’s friend Fleur. I’d love to see her get her own book!

The second part of the romance between Maggie and Samir.

They're giving a relationship a try but it comes with an expiration date - Samir's graduation. After that he's being called home to take it place within family politics and marry a girl of his father's choosing- an arranged marriage.

The usual ups and downs of a story. She lets him go in the end claiming not to love him, he drowns his sorrows until his cousin opens his eyes and then he goes to reclaim the girl he loves after disagreeing with his father and losing most of the money he has except for a small inheritance which will help further his education.
