I was intrigued by the mystery and liked the small town vibes, I just found that I lost investment in their relationship because it went so fast— like it went from a physical attraction straight to I’m falling in love with you let’s trust each other and build a life, I just didn’t have time to connect to their story because it was so full speed ahead. It was a good way to pass the time on the train, vibes and zero thoughts required.
Won’t read the rest of the series though

Cute!
This first book in the series with Lucy and Duke was really sweet and cute. I loved how patient Duke was in trying to get Lucy to tell him her secrets. I loved this town and the secondary characters and cannot wait to read more!

Country music star Lucy Ross, aka Jade Morgan, runs away from Nashville to hide in Calamity, Montana. We don't know why, at first, but when the sheriff finds out who she really is, she offers him a bribe to keep quiet about her identity. Sheriff Duke Evans is not the type of man to take a bribe, but he is going to get to the bottom of why Lucy is in Calamity. He figures that a country music star in hiding in his town can only mean trouble. But the more he tries to find out her secret, the more they get to know each other, and they more they like each other. That's a danger of another kind.
***
This is an enjoyable, small-town romance with an honorable, sexy sheriff who is a dad-figure to a teenage boy. And I always enjoy the musician trope. The romantic suspense was a bit of a let-down, but I still recommend the book.

A Famous country singer is being stalked and finally decides to escape Nashville to small town Montana where she goes by an alias, Jade. Before she gets into town she is pulled over but the sheriff for speeding. Imagine her surprise when it is a man she met on a hike a few days earlier. One look at her drivers license and he sees her real name.
Jade/Lucy goes from being scared to strong while falling in love with the sheriff. Just when it seems like her life is getting back to normal, her stalker finds her and comes after her.
This is a great romantic suspense that will keep you guessing until the end.
