Third time reading this book but first time listening to the audiobook and honestly I love it even more, and I didn't think that was possible.

Okay Okay. I am so happy I stuck with it. 4/5🌟

I understand that this series may not be for everyone, and it’s clear Auren has a big case of Stockholm Syndrome. But I’m picking up a lot of slow burn from this series. In the romance as well as in the character development.

Synopsis: Auren has been Midas’s favored for the last ten years, living in a gilded cage. When Midas invades the fifth kingdom, Auren and the other saddles begin the journey to their new home. But trouble brews in the Barrens when plans go awry, Auren does not quite make it to the castle, and she finds herself in the presence of those she’s only known to be enemies. Navigating the situation, Auren realizes she may have been wrong about the enemies, her loyalty to Midas is tested and she’s forced to think bigger than she has the last ten years.

“A warrior… I think I would like to be that.”

I realize now that Raven Kennedy’s style of writing in Gild was just preparing me for further character development of Auren in Glint. I love where the series is headed. If you’re a lover of enemies to lovers, found family, finding yourself after extreme struggles…. give this series a shot.

The end had me sitting up screaming “What!!!!” In the best way. Auren is really growing on me.

And thank god we had less Midas in this book, I cannot stand that guy. Slade????? Couldn’t be more elated to know his real name cuz “Rip” was not sitting right with me 🤣

This is book 2 of the Gild series. Auren, the saddles, and the guards have been taken by the 4th kingdoms army. They are making their way to the 5th kingdom still to meet with Midas and King Rot.

Auren learns to look more at her self as a powerful person. She has trusted Midas for a decade to keep her safe because he did when she was down on her luck. She is seeing “cracks” in their relationship and she is analyzing that internally.

Auren is amazing and watching her get more control of her powers is amazing. (Her being the real “Midas.) Rip is King Ravinger!!!!!!!!!!!!</spoiler

I’m obsessed with Commander Rip and will do anything for him. I liked this book more than the first one, even though it was a little slow in the beginning. Auren frustrated me to no end up until the last few chapters. There were times when I wanted to shake her and say ‘WHAT ARE YOU DOING WOMAN?!’
