Very good sci-fi short story. Which isn’t as sci-fi anymore, lots of the things mentioned there are reality for us.

As powerful as it is short, read it!

The level of prescience in this book is mind boggling. Over a hundred years old, but Forster details so precisely how technology has a grip on humanity, how we will die in great numbers if the machine ever stops, yet how trusting and in denial we are...it's eerie.

It horrifies me, the way that horror used to strike fear into me when I was young, but not in a good way. My fears have grown up with me, and the truth in books like these terrify me as they tower over me and seem so dreadfully inescapable.

Especially sitting here in my room, channelling Vishta, typing on my smartphone, communicating into the digital void.
