The first book was so wonderful it seems it’s a tough act to follow. This one felt like it took a while to start even while events were happening, and the dynamics with the new characters didn’t quite land for me. But I still love the world and every page with main character interactions were golden (maybe that’s why; these seemed few and far between? and summarized quickly in between long stretches of exploring?).

I think the plot of this one would have been delivered outside the epistolary format, but I still enjoyed myself and look forward to reading the next one.

idc about any issues this book had. I love Wendell & Emily and all their flaws. Their deep devotion & soft (totally not obvious) adoration for each other strike me right in the heart.
Also, a quick appreciation for Fawett's dialogue that I adore so much.

Another enjoyable installment in this series. Although I enjoyed the storyline, I am not a big fan of it being narrated through diary entries. I think it takes away from the pacing and engagement with tension in the plot, as everything is presented in a hindsight perspective. I would very much enjoy to read something else from this author written in a prose format.
