“when you eliminate the impossible, all that remains, however improbable, must be the truth.”

synopsis:
the story follows mallory, a young woman, who just got out of rehab, begins working as a babysitter for a rich family. from there, she begins to notice a strangeness to the young boy’s artwork.

i've seen a lot of good reviews about this book on tiktok, so i decided to immediately dive in.

plot: ⭐️ 5.0

first of all, i am not really a fan of supernatural thriller, but this book is really good. the plot was amazing and the book setting is giving that creepy, eerie vibe. i also love that there are representation of the drawings, so it was easier to imagine.

characters: ⭐️ 4.0

the characters have interesting personalities, and it did help provide more suspense and mystery in the whole story. the bond mallory and teddy has is heart-warming.

ending: ⭐️ 4.0

to be honest, i was very hooked from the first page and was indeed invested in mallory and her quest to find the truth. lastly, i did not expect the plot twist—it was clever and very well thought-of. however, it would’ve been better if it was revealed in a more shocking and jaw-dropping way. also, there are some parts that lack emotions. but overall, it is a great combination of fantasy and reality, definitely an amazing read.

if you are looking for a supernatural thriller that will keep you guessing until the end, look no further.

Oh my I loved this book!!! It was different from your typical suspense thriller!! The twist was perfect! I can’t say much because it will give everything away but this was a very quick read and the ghost story aspect mixed in was fantastic!

I didn’t expect this to be a 5 star read for me, but it was so so so great.

I’d say it’s a story best to go into blind, and take as it comes. Definitely did not expect the ending at all, but felt it was the only fitting ending. Fantastic pacing as well.

It took me less than a week to read this book and it pulled me out of a reading slump. I automatically gave it 4 stars because of that, I tore through it! Could not put it down and was all I could talk about for a few days. It was an interesting premise and something I would love to see as a tv show! The main character was someone I wanted to cheer for and believe but there were times I thought to myself that she could be an unreliable narrator. I also liked that the author provided images to help tell the story. The reason it wasn’t a five star for me is because the twist (which I did not see coming) didn’t have many signs. I like being able to go back through books and see where I missed a clue, but I didn’t see too many there. But a book I would definitely recommend will read his other works.
