This was an overall lower stakes romance (of course till stuff hit the fan as it tends to do around two-thirds of the way through most romantasy books) between two heirs to their respective kingdoms – one orc & the other elven – as they marry as a sign of good faith in signing a treaty between their kingdoms. The way their love story unfolded was beautiful to read and you best bet I unexpectedly cried my eyes out on a couple of occasions over them 🥲
