I definitely liked this book better than the first book because it had more of the depth I thought the first book lacked. I was glad to see that Nat's behavior had consequences, and that her friends called her out on it. I think the book did a good job of showing the harm in becoming obsessed with a crush to the detriment of friendships, but it did so in a way that felt natural.

Again, Flo and Zoe are really the best parts of this book, though. They're both a lot more interesting than Nat, and they're definitely both a lot more self-aware than Nat is.

Still, this is a pretty good book about dealing with a first crush and with the ensuing disappointment when that crush doesn't feel the same way.

Great sequel with a very realistic plot with situations that happen in middle school. Good representation of how people learn from their own mistakes, own the consequences of their actions and grow from them, as well as how not everything goes according to plan and has happy ending, because it can just be a new chapter instead of a tragic ending.

Representation: Black characters
Score: Seven points out of ten.

The entire series is now complete. For now. Surprisingly, I read the series out of order, first the third one, then the fourth, then the first and now the second one. I haven't read from this author for a while but I know she writes enjoyable books. When I closed the final page of Forget Me Nat, it was delightful, but flawed.

It starts (more like continues) with the first person I see, Nat, recounting her life at her school after the events of Nat Enough. Nat believes Derek has a crush on her until a revelation hits her: Derek likes Nat, but only as a friend. The rest of Forget Me Nat revolves around Nat attempting to regain her self-confidence after that event. I spend so much time on her character development it grew stale. Forget Me Nat is around the same length as the other three instalments but it feels much longer. At least I could like the characters but I disconnected myself from them. The conclusion is heartwarming, finishing the fictional composition on a high note.

Such a cute little book about Nat entering middle school and having a crush on Derek, who doesn't see her in quite the same light. She realizes that friends are important and she is a good person and can like herself without conforming.
