Although I liked the first book in this trilogy the best. I found that I just had to read all three books, one after another, Ditlevsen's writing is that good. Not that I necessarily wanted to find out what happened. I just wanted to read her sentences and savor them.

A tragic story that delves into the symbiosis of love and loneliness, success and status, the monotony of life. Ultimately it is a terrifying tale of the escape from everything into the arms of substance.
