This was such a heartwarming book! I loved the friendship that developed between Aleisha and Mukesh, I feel like it's pretty uncommon to see a friendship between a young woman and an older man. I think this book does a great job speaking about grief, and how reading helps you understand yourself, others, and the world. This is definitely a book for book lovers, and I look forward to reading it again in the future!

This book is just so wholesome. It deals with themes of loneliness, mental health and grief and how books have the power to heal us and bring people together. I haven't read most of the books on the reading list but the way they are woven into the narrative makes me want to read them and see how my journey compares to the characters journeys.
Mukesh reminds me, in a small way, to my Grandad and mirrors how reading helps Mukesh with his grief. And I love how Alisha's narrative alongside the books she is reading bring the issues of mental health to life, they make the atmosphere almost palpable.

I initially thought I would read this one for an in person book club because it happened to be available from the library the last time I took my kiddo there for a class. It was such a sweet, endearing read. A very huggable book. Even though I was certain I knew the mystery note-writer and I was right, I wasn't prepared for the ending. Definitely got a little misty at the end. Oh, but while I did see the large red flags the author gave us about her brother,
I did not see the suicide coming. I figured the sister would figure things out and be shocked but able to prevent his death. I was not ready for that dark turn.
