Slow. As much hype as this one had researching about it, it shows its age immensely.
It was a slog to get through it. Florence's suffering was the definition of "a man wrote this."
Sexual deviancy is a theme of the book but. It was uninspired again, showing its age and its memeable male perspective.

2.5 stars.

This book was probably much more scary and shocking when it was written. Lots of "deviant" sexual content that was supposed to show evilness but in today's world is viewed as normal and not bad. Such as lesbianism which isn't evil or bad. There's more and it was creepy, the other sexual parts. The ending was Meh though. I can see why this book makes the scariest books ever lists and it did give you the creepy feels in parts. It was just okay for me.
