Read to vote for the 2015 Hugo Award for Graphic Novel. Why was this nominated?
So. A girl discovers sex can make time literally stand still. And it's quite pretty at first.
Girl meets boy. Girl hooks up with boy. And he has the same ability! So, for a while, they spend all their time alone, together.
So, obviously, since they can stop time now, they plan to rob a bank. Only, there are people that found out about their little secret and now Jon and Suzie (our protagonists) are on the run.
(On a side note, I really liked Suzie! A refreshingly honest and fun female character that likes sex! And my favourite part was her singing 'Fat Bottomed Girls' by Queen.)
But I was expecting more. Not the 'sex' part, but more of the 'criminals' stuff.
Overall a fun comic. I couldn't help but fall in love with Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky's sense of humour.
I was enveloped in silence and color, an ocean of warm silence and color that I could, apparently, make explode out from inside me.

Other people just ruing everything, don't they?

Weird and cool and very very Matt Fraction. More please.
I found this absolutely hilarious, I liked how the characters had moments where they were speaking directly to the reader, it made me feel like I was watching a TV show or film. The flashbacks/ flashforwards(?) to where the 'sex police' capture them made it interesting and made me wonder how on earth they were going to get from being two people who have sex to robbing banks and getting caught.

I didn't know what to expect, but this proved to be a solid graphic novel. At times it felt vague, nearly boring, but I'll still happily read the second volume. Don't read if you feel squeamish about sex.
It may go without saying, but there is an awful lot of sex in this book. The sex comes (HA!) in many varieties: tawdry, erotic, passionate, mundane, ridiculous, serious, or unsatisfying. All of it is there to serve a premise that is as goofy as it is unsafe for work. Don't read this at work. There is a time and a place for these things.
Sex Criminals is a clever and original take on modern relationships. It's not perfect: it is a little bit weird that the two protagonists initially bond over a few lines from Lolita (a story which does not reflect anything even close to appropriate sexuality) of all things, and there are some cheap shots at sex workers that don't really add to the story. But it balances humor with pathos in an intelligent way that few stories about sex ever really do. Not that I'm an expert on stories about sex.
If the word "Kegelface" makes you giggle, and you have equally strong inclinations toward sexy romances as you do toward high concept fantasy/sci-fi, then you've probably been waiting for this book for your entire life. So rejoice, because it's here!

interesting set up. I liked the art. hilarious signs and stuff in the background. not totally invested in the story or the characters though and I'm not sure why not..
Sex Criminals is a dirty and daring comic about two people who make time stop when they orgasm. So of course, they plan to rob a bank. I consistently laughed out-loud reading this. It's not for the faint of heart (or anti-sex, let's be honest), but if you feel up to reading a comic where a large percentage is spent in a porn store or in a bedroom, this will have you thinking and laughing. It's not fault-free, it has a few questionable moments, where you say, are you reeeeeeeeally sex-positive? Especially if you're a person who knows a lot about how ridiculous sex workers are portrayed.
I would recommend this to a mature crowd. If you're comfortable reading about sex and find it simultaneously hilarious, you'll love this fantastical take on the subject.
