Well-written with beautiful art, but the story didn't especially grab me. Relies more on character development and strong dialogue, focusing less on developing the actual plot.
This was a lot of fun! A little confusing at times, but it's a cool concept and I like how the authors play around with meta content.
This was a very entertaining graphic novel and one that I will continue to read. I found the premise to be interesting yet strange. I enjoyed the artwork immensely. Not for young readers for sure.
It's funny, clever and well written. It's rare to find something with this kind of premise and have it be a damn good read. Overall, would recommend.
I went into this comic thinking I would really enjoy it but in the end I just thought it was okay. I liked the concept of the story but I was confused half the time. I felt like everything was rushed with no real explanations at time. At the moment I don't know if I'll be continuing with the series.
What? That’s all I have to say about this. What? Onto volume 2.
Sex Criminals tells the story of Suzie and Jon, two people who can literally stop time when they have sex. Naturally, they decide to put this power to good use - by robbing a bank.
This graphic novel was fun, entertaining, and surprisingly grounded, given the bizarre plot line.
At several points while reading the graphic novel, I found myself laughing out loud and wanting to send it off to someone else so that they could laugh about it too. The premise was fun, but also serious, clever, and well-written, so the novel itself never felt like a joke. I thought the characters were interesting, and weirdly relatable at times, considering their unconventional powers. In fact, with her huge collection of books, I'm pretty sure Suzie and I could be great friends.
I really liked the art style, though some of the art was definitely something I would have needed to keep hidden if I were reading it on public transport (thanks to the guy at the comic book store for the heads up). I do feel obliged to warn anyone considering reading this, that this is definitely a graphic novel for adults. Being an awkward young person who sometimes doesn't know where to look when watching Game of Thrones, I did cringe when reading it at times. That being said, the tone of this is a whole lot lighter than something like Game of Thrones (though it felt a lot more candid and realistic), so if you can handle the sex scenes in that, this might feel like a breeze.
Sex Criminals, like most good graphic novels, managed to merge together real-life issues like growing up, friendships, and relationships, and the extraordinary, a.k.a. the ability to stop time. I'm going to give it five stars, because I thought it was brilliant.

Fun book! Original concept, realistic portrayal of figuring out sexuality from both gender perspectives, funny though sometimes tries too hard, pretty nice art. Turned a little too comic-booky for me when the sex police showed up though.
In brief: Two messed-up people + time-stopping orgasms + a library in need = a brilliant and terrible idea: rob banks.
Thoughts: I wanted to love this one. I mean, it’s Matt Fraction and I loved his run on Hawkeye and he does amazing characters and interesting storytelling, and that’s all in here too, no lie. He and Zdarsky also use the visual aspects to really neat effect too, blurring the lines between present-time and memory and breaking the fourth wall all over the place. But I couldn’t get into the characters, the goal of saving the library didn’t feel intense enough, the twist at the end was cool but didn’t grab me, and the humour wasn’t enough to keep me interested either. I can see why a lot of people liked it, though—just wasn’t for me.

I was starting to despair, thinking maybe I just wasn't a "comics person." It turns out I just hadn't found the right comic yet. This. This is the right comic for me. Humor and romance and weirdness and crime. I have found my comic soulmate!
