ever, why must you be so frustrating?! seriously, you should've learned by now to listen to Damen but no! ugh, and seriously the only way I know how to describe this book is just a pause in the series, because she doesn't move back with progress, but she sure as hell doesn't make any either!
When you started reading the Imortals, about Ever and Damen, it is just not possible to stop reading. I loved it, just like I loved the first and the second book!
Ever and Damen have gone through countless lives and fought off the world’s darkest enemies so they could be together. But just when an everlasting future is finally within their reach, Damen is struck down by a curse—a dark spell separating him and Ever for eternity. Now sharing so much as a single touch could bring about Damen’s death…and send him plummeting into the Shadowland, an eternal abyss for lost souls. Desperate to break the curse and save Damen, Ever immerses her herself in magick. And in her quest, she gets help from an unexpected source...a surfer named Jude.
Although she and Jude have only just met, he feels startlingly familiar. Despite her fierce loyalty to Damen, Ever is drawn to Jude, a green-eyed golden boy with magical talents and a mysterious past. She’s always believed Damen to be her soulmate and one true love—and she still believes it to be true. But as Damen pulls away to save them from the darkness inhabiting his soul, Ever’s connection with Jude grows stronger—and tests her love for Damen like never before…
I picked up Shadowland because of my OCD. There might be a small desire of curiosity surrounding the fates of Ever and Damen, but I truly suspect that my OCD tendencies to want to read every single book in a series is the real reason that I sat through this book after the disappointment that was Blue Moon.
The story pretty much leaves off straight after Blue Moon albeit a little time passing. It occurs to me that it's difficult to judge just how much time passes through the duration of these books as well as between them, because after Evermore, everything just tends to drag. Blue Moon was basically an entire book of Ever not really knowing what to do and basically being a tragic teen heroine. In Shadowland, Ever becomes a lot more decisive and her blessed impatience which causes all sorts of mishaps can be forgiven because at least things are finally starting to happen.
I feel that Shadowland is more like a novella. Yes, it does have all sorts of things that happen, but I am finding that it sets us up for what occurs in the next book [b:Dark Flame|7198988|Dark Flame (The Immortals, #4)|Alyson Noel|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1362336376s/7198988.jpg|7859868]. It answers some questions, asks a lot more questions, but Shadowland is paving the way for what's going to happen next in the Immortals Saga.
I liked Shadowland far more than Blue Moon and there were many things present here that I had originally liked in Evermore. Having already read Dark Flame at the time of writing this review, I would suggest fellow readers to just hang on a little longer. I feel that Dark Flame redeems this series somewhat and opens up a lot more history and knowledge, and begins to fill in a lot of the blank spaces.
If this series ever got made into a film, I have to wonder if I might enjoy it more? I mean, given how Twilight and a few others turn out, it could be absolutely dreadful but also in saying that, films sometimes present a far bigger picture of what's going on at the time because they have to condense a lot of the story. I quite imagine that actually seeing these past life flashbacks that Ever and Damen share in Summerland could be quite awesome for example. Two breathless immortal teenagers, struggling to unite in love whilst every conceivable challenge is thrown their way! Amidst the chaos, they share a memory of a past life with happier times... it's totally a seller, right?

A couple things bug. One is Ever, she is reckless and does not listen at all. Which is frustrating. Damen is still awesome. Shadowland is good, but I thought it was a little slow and it needed to get to the point at times. I saw the point of Jude, but felt it didn't really develop. There are lots of questions that need answering. Would not recommend for Tweens. Mature themes.
Overall this book was just OK. I mean it was really hard to keep reading (I finished another book while reading it). There really weren't that many good parts. So if you do decide to read this be prepared.
sooo cool love it too cant wait for the fourth!!
Okay, not the best, but I still liked it. I know lots of people are mad that the Ever/Damen/Roman did not get resolved. THis does not bother me. While it's still an issue, it had an ending for this book. There was an ultimatum and yeah things didn't go as planned. When do they ever??
And I LOVE Jude. lol he is so cute and quarky and I can't wait to see how he plays out. NOt sayin he'll get the girl, but he brings interest and a different kinf of conflict. I like the fact Damen and obstacles to overcome to be with Ever the last 400 years

Ok I haven't exactly wrote a review on the first two mainly because I was still deciding how I felt...but I just want to smack the crap out of Ever...really now...how stupid can you be. Then there is oogie Damen. I like him fine enough but he is oogie really. Jude was my last hope for this but now I just don't know what the flying fleabags is going on. Sheeh!!
I am not even sure why I continued w/ this series! I was listening to the audiobooks on my way to and from classes and just kept on no matter how annoying I found the story or the characters. I ended up abandoning this book about 2/3 in and have not gone back. I always feel like I should finish a series when I start it but, for me this series is tedious at best. Ever is no heroine at all, the connection between the characters seem forced, the friends are no friends at all, and the constant focus on not eating is disturbing. Strangely enough, I have gone back and wonder should I finish the series or not? But I have been unable to bring myself to, especially w/ such great books out there. In the end, I don't despise the books but I grow tired of the eternal "love" story because it is so contrived and empty.
