This was a gun read. A fun premise and Trine is a great protagonist. Can't wait to see her already solve more mysteries!

It's was pretty interesting, the art wasn't amazing but not bad. I would have given it 5 stars but some certain deaths were a little graphic for me personally.

I was bored and I was over the sexism & predictability of a book about mysteries.

1. I would like to be best friends with Trine.
2. Failing my ability to become best friends with a fictional character, I would like Trine and [b:Bandette|18124640|Bandette, Volume 1 Presto!|Paul Tobin|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1403207305s/18124640.jpg|25455666] to meet and become a crime-fighting duo.
3. Please, please, please, someday, [a:Paul Tobin|440975|Paul Tobin|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1216707635p2/440975.jpg] & [a:Colleen Coover|152807|Colleen Coover|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1327194494p2/152807.jpg] ?!

Black female main character with mysterious powers to solve...mysteries? I’m an automatic fan. I like Trine, I like her sex worker friends and how fiercely she protects them and cares about them. I’m highly anticipating her leaving her boyfriend in the next volume because why should she be with someone who doesn’t believe in her abilities?! She’s saved lives including his! Did I think the Mammoth mystery was interesting? Not particularly, but I enjoyed her time in Russia and subsequent action sequences that followed in the last 2 issues. Looking forward to the next chapter in Trine’s life because I MUST know more about the origin of her powers.

Mystery Girl has an interesting premise - about a woman who knows the answer to every mystery, except her own. Her uncanny ability draws the attention of everyone, and Trine is a helpful person of the community. She is nice to people, and has a complicated relationship with her friend who is in love with her. But it can't be denied that she loves the people of her neighborhood. When a chance to get to Siberia to see actual mammoths comes, she jumps on it. However, a psychopathic hitman is out to make her his next victim, and becomes more interested when he learns of her abilities. Determined to outdo her, he and his company set a trap for her, one which she evades and later falls into. Still, her resourcefulness and her abilities manage to rescue her from dire situations.

The plot is pretty interesting, and the characterization is quite good - the subtle nuances of the personalities shine through even in a visual medium. But I did not find the artwork to be impressive - it is done in what I consider an old style, reminiscent of older superhero comics, with a bit theatrical expressions and the like. Compared with the detailed and amazing artwork coming out nowadays, this felt a bit boring. And since it is a graphic novel, this factored majorly in the rating I give this book - the artwork is half the soul; and I couldn't like it enough to be compensated by the story or the plot. I would give it 3.5 stars.

Received a free galley from Dark Horse Books, via Edelweiss, in exchange for an honest review.

Loved this story. The art is amazing, the plot is reminiscent of Jessica Jones, but with a bad-ass British black woman in charge it's a refreshing addition to the comic scene.
