So I started this book on Monday and finished it today, Thursday around midnight. That's while working full time and attempting to sort stuff for interrailing soon
and that's cous I couldn't put this book down, but like stronger than any book I've read recently. I was on the train when I started reading it and I was actually glad it was delayed half an hour so I could read more!! it had me smiling so much it's so adorable omg. I don't think it's perfect but poppy (hey) recommended it to me just cous it's so cute and fluffy and yessssss it's so cute it made me squirm haha

At this moment in time I'm just not ready for this book. I was really liking the characters and their story but there were some parts that bugged me some and I'd rather read this book when I'm in the mood to do so.

I've never read something that tackles anxiety and selective mutism before, so I never really had any expectations on this book.
The main characters Steffi and Rhys found refuge with one another. I love how they didn't give a shit on what the world would think as long as they understand each other.
Since I've been through Steffi's mind, I saw how little things give her anxiety. I thought it was funny at first but then I realize that it wasn't funny at all, if waiting for the bus gives her a mini panic attack then I have no idea what a broken heart would cause her.
This book was a unique contemporary novel with a little bit of teenage drama and anxiety lessons. I really enjoyed it!

My goodness do I hate this book. Ranging from insane inconsistencies between the characters to the main character being right all of the time, I did not enjoy it.
When I first read this book in middle school (which is what I think that this is for), I actually did like it. But now, I notice the awful writing and the poor plot so clearly. The only thing I really like is the idea of the book, but I feel like it was done much better in A Silent Voice.

this was cute and felt like a great representation of selective mutism and deafness. the conflict towards the end felt weird and forced and just kinda random, trying too hard to find a conflict and then overreacting to it. and sex scene and talks of sex completely killed the cute vibe when Rhys just gets himself off and is done. and apparently continues to do that without ever thinking about her??? and she justifies and normalizes that. wtf. no
