Eh - this was OK. No, it was pretty bland actually, which is surprisingly when you consider that it's a book about a Summer King and Winter Queen and mortals becomes fairies and so on. But everything seems very removed. We can always reach fairly happy compromises for every character involved, so it never feels like anything matters very much. I didn't particularly care how it all worked out, which didn't make for a good read.

It was very entertaining and I'm looking forward to Ink Exchange. Lots going on. Go Ash!

This is a reread of a book I loved years ago. It is a very typical YA fantasy and ready like one but the world is just so much fun.

Keenan’s search for his queen is a tense and depressing point for so many of the characters and watching the two halves of the story fight for what is most important to them and come to the realization that they will have to sacrifice something is so interesting. Aislinn just wants to live a normal life and pursue her crush Seth and Keenan wants to find his queen to end his mother’s endless winter. Donia is fighting unwillingly against Keenan after failing the test, still in love with the boy she threw everything away for. The end was a pleasant surprise in that Keenan and Aislinn don’t end up together and seemingly come to a compromise in sharing the ruling of the Summer fey and living their own lives.

Good sci fi book - romance as well - started reading the second one in the series, but wasn't hooked

I read this as a nostalgia read and god did I used to love this series. It was an okay read, I definitely enjoyed reading it. But the pacing was so slow, and it was consistently “gives Aislinn a choice, Aislinn runs away, Keenan and Seth follow”. Also I personally do not like Seth as a character which definitely influences my review because he features so heavily.

I know I read this book, but I can't seem to remember anything in it so
mysterious tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

If you want YA urban fantasy romance this is it. Its different from normal fantasy romances with fairy and although you know how it's probably going to end the build up is a fun read. It's very ya angst and tension but overall glad I reread it many years later.

I read a lot of teen fiction since my daughter is 12, almost 13, and some titles are directed toward older teens, rather than younger teens. This book is definitely for older teens. The story is a strict romantic fantasy about a girl who can see the fairy realm that exists with us all the time. (We normal humans just cannot see them.) She is chosen by the Summer Prince. He must woo her, and if she turns out to be the chosen one, she will become the Summer Queen. But she is just not into the Summer Prince, she loves another, and to top it all off, she hates fairies!

OK I liked this book but I would have to say I was very upset with the ending. I think it could have ended better. But things may change this is a series book right? Anywho I did like it but thought it could have had a better ending, I guess I just didn't want Donia and Keenan to end up together.

LOVED IT! finished it in a day.
