I think the writing of this book was great but the pros stop there. The narrator Theo was just an absolutely awful human so following him through the story and learning about his past was just insufferable. The ending left me wondering why. And the romance (can you call it that?) seemed so out of left field and confusing. We did read this on audio so that may have impacted the experience but I dont recommend.

Did not enjoy the ponderous lead up to an unfulfilling ending

I hardly ever say this, but I think I prefer the movie. I did enjoy being able to enter Faron's mind and learn more about his character. However, I was not impressed at all with Julian. Even with her situation, I found it very difficult to like or care about her. I never felt any emotion towards her character.

For the first time in my life have I thought a film adaptation was better to the book’
