Although the idea of this book is great, I was very annoyed that the blurb gives away something that happens only after halfway through the story - this definitely impacted my reading experience negatively.

P.D. James' "The Children of Men" is certainly a good book. The writing is superb and the plot intricate (and novel). The characters are interesting and flaws (in the best way). The story makes you question what a world without a future would be like, and what you would do at the end.
That being said, I cannot give the final star because, in a lot of moments, the story (and the writing) feels pretentious. This could echo the personality of the main character but nonetheless, at times it is off-putting.
It is still an incredible read (hence the four stars).

The film is more “set in the same world” & has little in common with the focus of the book’s story. The tale isn’t terribly challenging & the pace is slower than I usually prefer but the writing was good & the story interesting so I enjoyed it. The audiobook’s narration was excellent (Daniel Weyman).
I found the story to be quite good but the characters and development to be not even 2 dimensional.
