The main character is the perfect example of people who peaked in high school

I love Shannon Hale so it is difficult to admit that this fell flat for me. I wasn't invested into the story until about 2/3 of the way through. Then the character felt a little more sincere. I'd probably give it more of a 2.5

I thought this book was ok. I thought it touched on some important themes and was a lot of fun to listen to. The plot twist at the end kinda ruined it for me since I was really rooting for the character it mainly effected.
Josie Pie was kind of annoying. At the beginning of the book she is the epitome of peaked in High School, but I found her struggle and resiliency interesting as she developed.
The way this book was set up was interesting because of the wide array of scenes and genres that were included.
Recommended for anyone who needs a good character development story.

Do you ever get that 'what do I do now?' feeling when you finished a book? Because that is how I am currently feeling after these read.

I will be honest. I had slowly turned away from a lot of YA books lately, but I had to purchase this book as soon as I read the blurb. It is about Josie, a 19-year-old girl who dropped out of high school because of a star on the Broadway stage. However, dreams do not always turn into reality. Josie finds herself in a new place, as a nanny for a five-year-old girl Mia. The book follows Josie as she forms the ability to jump inside the books she is reading, helping her realise the worth that she has in her life, and to listen and support her family and friends better. Because life is not always about you. I had to read this book because is it not almost every reader's dream to jump into the reality of their favourite stories. I will admit this was the only reason I chose to read this book. However, it took no time until I was hooked on the storyline. It took me three hours to devour this book and that is the quickest I have read a book in a long time.

So if you are looking for something that is light-hearted and follows the life of a young female just trying to figure out her life through different themes of her life. You should 100% pick up this book and give it ago. There were a few twists and turns which I did not expect, so it is not as cliche as the book might make one believe.

I wanted to enjoy this book. But I really just wanted it to be over. I literally only finished it by hate reading it…

The power of jazz hands and the Spice Girls?? Really? A love interest who the FMC thinks is cheating on her but they get together in the end (for forever) with no change? Kicklines and evil spirits? This was a big pass from me…

It felt so slow. I thought the concept is very interesting but not well executed- it makes me want to try to write it better, if that makes sense.
