Wow! I loved this book. I really fell in love with the characters and identified with them on a deeper level. For the first time in a long time, I cried while reading. The emotions conveyed here are piercing and real. I loved the mix between the past and present and the mystery that prevails until the end. This novel is thought-provoking and insightful. Beautiful.

It's a shame that I never felt particularly engaged with these characters. Also, too many coincidences.

I was a bit surprised by this one. Went in with no expectations and ended up having a good time with it. It was surprisingly touching and endearing. I wasn’t sure if I’d be going back to it in the future (it didn’t start out my cup of tea) but as the story went along, I got more and more into it.

The audio version is NOT the complete book. It is “abridged” and missing entire storylines. Glad I realized this before I wasted more time. The story is compelling so I’ll read the paper copy.

I like the idea of the book more than the story.

Whenever anyone asks me what my favorite book is, this is the title I give them.

I first read this book so long ago, were talking over a decade, and I still love it just as much. I appreciate any story that helps me forget that I am a cynical, bitter bitty, a story that wraps me up in an ethereal, emotional hug. This book is that.

The writing style is gorgeous; the way Domingue describes the “between” and how souls linger, interact and affect the real world is so believable. It’s clear she researched the language and concepts she used to illustrate this world because I didn’t question it, it made sense to me.

The timeline jumps all over the place but in a very intentional way. I never felt jolted out of the story, I never felt lost. The way the story unfolded felt calculated and organic at the same time. I felt like I was genuinely along for the ride.

All of the characters are likable and endearing, I felt specifically drawn to Razi and Amy, no surprise there I’m sure.

I could go on but I will let this book speak for itself. I have recommended this to everyone for 10+ years and will continue doing so. * the audiobook is available but it is abridged so keep that in mind before you decide to read in that format *

I liked this book. Written from the perspective of a woman who died, she recounts her life and remembers her true love and misses him terribly. She watches a young couple and helps them along their path. The ending was a little confusing, though, how everyone ended up relating to one another had me reading pages over again just to get it straight.

I've rated this novel as a 5 on Amazon.com (I'd have selected 4.5 if that was an option).

It is an amazing novel and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Here is my Amazon.com review for those interested:
