REVIEW: PROMISES WE MEANT TO KEEP BY MONICA MURPHY
RATING: 3/5 ⭐️

SYNOPSIS: Spencer Donato. My brother’s best friend. My dirty little secret.

We fell for each other at Lancaster Prep. Sneaking around. Not wanting anyone to find out. He was my first love, my protector, my knight in shining armor. We were made for each other, and I truly believed he was my forever.

But then I did the unthinkable, and betrayed him in the worst possible way. I thought I lost him for good…

Until I saw him at my brother’s wedding. Now he’s older. Crueler. Unbearably handsome. We’re drawn to each other still, but will Spencer be there for me when I need him the most? Or did I ruin us once again?

i didn’t love this story, but also didn’t hate it. it was very MEH for me. the summary makes it sound a lot better than it was actually executed imo, and i feel like there was also a lot that could have been touched on more & turned into a good plot (ex: spencer’s work). the FMC & MMC are only a year apart, but throughout the entire story, i felt like the author kept trying to make it seem like a larger age gap than it was, since it isn’t even an age gap. they both met when they were young, but are still only 1 year apart. there’s really only 1 major plot development in this book, so a lot of it could have been removed. it didn’t need to be over 400 pages.

I really skimmed the majority of this book. I did not like Sylvie… like at all. I get she went through stuff but she was not a redeemable character. I mean im glad she got her HEA but she’s a character that I would have been fine if she didn’t get a book. Spence was.. meh. I didn’t get the groundskeeper. Like why was he there? I was waiting for something to happen with him. It’s just *sigh*
Will I still read the series?? Yes, because of book one and book two. I LOVED the characters in book 2.
