Ehh it was okay.
You'd love this if you know nothing about formula 1. If you do you'll cringe all the way to Bahrein and back to the Vegas strip.

First of all MCMORRIS? It's too close to mclaren and their driver lando norris. Just yucky!
AND SCUDERIA D'AMBROSKI? With the red team colours? No.
Comparing them to scuderia ferrari is icky.
Team drama is 100% realistic tho.

The romance was cute surprisingly enough. I had to torture myself to get thru the f1 parts but yea...

What a fun time! There were parts I felt not as thrilled about as book 1 and the communication was lacking at times, but Simone Soltani’s writing is so fun I can’t even be that mad. I really grew to love Stella and Thomas together and it was super cute and swoony and sexy. And the racing was fun per usual 💞🙏

This had too many problems to even be fun. Stella and Thomas were shells. They had no real personalities other than "wealthy" and it became hard to read pretty early on.

I also have a real issue with how race is "discussed" in this book. I really should have dnf'd when the white, wealthy, British man said he mostly listened to afro-beats and rap because he grew up with west-Africans. There were so many cringe moments that felt like nothing other than a virtue signal from Thomas. It also hurt Stella's character. She felt like a caricature of the perfect Black woman and it kept her from feeling real.

I was really disappointed because I loved the first book. I still like the world, but this was bad.

I listened to the audiobook version and it was not the best to listen to. There was a distinct difference in crispness between the FMC narrator and the MMC narrator. One sounded sharp and the other sounded soft and muffled although I don’t think thats the best word for it. Then there were so many awkward beats of silence that didn’t sound like they were apart of the book. Like I mean several seconds of silence. Several odd cuts production wise. I felt like it could’ve been better.
