This is not quite what I expected but in a good way. The writing was enjoyable and the plot intense. The MMC and MFC are heartbreakingpy perfect for one another.

What I liked:
- I like the genie in a bottle retelling
- The MFC growth from young and naive to older and jaded was done well
- The various magic types were intriguing as well as the magical fae and other creatures
- MFC's protectiveness
- The spice!
- Depiction of abuse verbal and physical was well done
- MMC love and care for MFC is adorable and sweet

What I didnt like:
- The MFC's caring but not caring. It was almost selective stubbornness
-The MMC and MFC serious guilt trips they give themselves. Sometimes it feels forced and unnecessary.
- The side character from the village. Why bring her along? Why even include her? It just doesn't flow and felt forced. Maybe in book 2 it will come more to light?

Mora is the new Katherine Pierce. Once naive now twisting the wishes of men to her whim. It *is* the only way she can get back at them. Villainous FMCs are so much fun to get to know. Mora’s reasons and motives only make her a more complex character, one that you can’t help but love.

This book will eat away at your emotions. I was taken on a complete roller coaster with them and the worst of it being a couple of Dother villains. They were so evil that they are my most hated characters since Professor Umbridge. And that took it out of me!

I was not quite aware of how the magical realms worked or how the bindings took place or worked but the plot line was truly unique. A fae version of the Genie in the lamp but with spice and a LOT of violence.

Not my most read genre but I really liked the way this book gave me something I hadn't read before. The story is the first of a series and doesn't completely resolve the story line at the end and therefore making me want to read the next one to find out.

I enjoyed the dual time lines and multiple POV and Can't decide whether Mora or Zabriel were my faves. If you like Romantasy saga's, don't hesitate to pick this one up.

Holy cow, book friends, this was such a good read! I can't wait for the next book! If you're looking for a great fantasy with a genie like MC, look no further! This will be one of my top fantasy reads of the year.

This book encompasses feminine rage, and I loved Mora for it (hate what happened to make her this way, though). I love that she would take any control she possibly could when her life is dictated by others.

Zadriel has so much mystery behind him (even though we still learn a lot of about him in this book). I can't wait to learn more and see what happens with him. I fell in love with his character right away, and I'm ready to fight for this bb.

Tropes:
Haunted, Morally Grey, Cinnamon Roll MMC
Female Rage
Lovers to Enemies
Enemies to Lovers
Touch Her/Him and 💀
Binding Magic and Curses

 AAAAAAAHHHH OMG!!!!

4/5 ⭐

I don't even know where to begin this review, there are SO MANY THINGS TO TALK ABOUT!!

Mora has been through so much these past three centuries, from keeper to keeper and with a horrid past she can't seem to escape, finally it seems the future may give her a chance at a somewhat calm life. But when a face from her past suddenly appeares putting her world upside down and the fae from all these years is by his side, she may need to twist the wishes further.

WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!?! From the very first page I was intrigued by this story. It was very original and the characters were very well developed. Mora, my goddess and queen of darkness. Zadriel my tortured boy MY HEART BREAKS FOR BOTH OF THEM, THEY NEED A MOMENT OF PEACE PLEAAAASE.

And let me tell you Dother, ALL DOTHERS, UGH I haven't hated a character this much in YEARS!

Go read this book and bathe in all the goodness.

Love you all and happy reading 💋💋

Sara Flanagan has completely captivated me with her debut novel. This dark fantasy romance is exquisitely written, sinking its teeth into your heart and tossing your emotions around like an angry dog.

Mora is an incredible FMC with a deeply heartbreaking past, she’s been cursed and bound to a flask by a truly monstrous villain that is so damn easy to loathe. Having endured so much, she is understandably filled with feminine rage, haunted by her memories, and fueled by pain, trauma, and anger. While she's fierce and deadly, she undeniably has a tender side buried deep within—one that takes time to surface after centuries of suffering, which understandably led her to hide it away for survival.

As we meet Zadriel, we gradually uncover his own dark narrative and begin to understand his part in the whole story, and the transformation of their relationship from enemies to lovers is both sweet and spicy. There are some truly beautiful moments between him and Mora, and their shared journey towards healing truly tugs at your heartstrings.

The plot is insanely interesting, filled with deep, dark twists and turns that will keep you on your toes. I honestly didn’t want to put my Kindle down. I already cannot wait for the next book!
