Wow! Wish was so good! Dark and monstrous genie in a bottle vibes. At first the book felt slow going with the back and forth between past and present but as I continued reading, I just could not put it down and actually enjoyed the past and present alternations. Mora is full of rage and rightfully so with everything she has been through over the centuries, haunted forever by her past, trapped. I found myself rooting for her vengeance.
Side note, I like the chocolates touch. It was a nice lighter part of the story.
My heart hurts for Mora and Zadriel, can they please catch a break?! Ooo and don’t even get me started on the Dothers! Talk about a villainous family line. Horrible, straight horrible! What an absolute emotional roller coaster ride! That cliffhanger! Cannot wait to see what happens next.

This was a refreshing read. Like finally getting a new story that's unique. I will be impatiently awaiting a sequel.

Wow. That was dark. I wouldn't say it was dark romance, because the romance plot itself wasn't really dark at all and it really wasn't all that prominent. It was the plot surrounding the romance. Read the trigger warnings on this one, folks.
That said, it is an interesting story. It's a play on the djinn myth with some fae thrown in for good measure. It's fairly fast paced and engaging, with a decent amount of world building. The ending did have a bit a dragged-out feel to it though. A lot of "I have to tell you things" then not telling them the things. There is also something I consider to be a glaring plot hole, but it could be setup for later on the in the series.
This one is a solid "not bad." If you aren't bothered by the really dark themes, pick this one up. But like I said, read the trigger warnings. They ain't foolin'.

Wow! Mora is hands down one of the most badass heroines I’ve ever read about. The things she’s been through? Absolutely heartbreaking. My heart aches so much for both her and Zadriel. I’ve never seen a character endure so much pain and suffering, and it made me feel every bit of it too. Zadriel’s childhood and his own torment were just as gut-wrenching, and don’t get me started on how much I loathed Cillian and Andras Dother. I was so furious at them that at one point, I wished I could get into the book and kill them myself!
This story took me on an emotional rollercoaster—sadness, pain, love, happiness, and anger. I love books that make me feel so deeply. From the very beginning, I was hooked, and even though it’s somewhere about 500 pages, it didn’t feel that long because the story flowed so smoothly. I also loved Mora's power or curse, I was in awe with what she can do. The story does not end here, and I cannot wait for the next book to come out now!
As a huge fan of Romantasy, this one definitely stands out, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who loves a strong, badass heroine. Just make sure to read the trigger warnings before diving in. Oh, and the multiple POVs? I loved that aspect too!

While the concepts of the plot were interesting, the execution was poor and the world building fell flat. The writing was so-so and it was a struggle to finish.
