so CUTE AND FESTIVE

I read a fair few romance novels but now had such a couple who were so mature and supportive. They really build each other up and the fact that this takes place over a day -- and despite my usual dislike of insta anything -- I fell in love with these characters and their connection. They really got to know each other so the time period didn't hinder my perception in any way. Very festive and cute.

This book takes place in a day. The main characters fall for each other in a day. It's well written.  I love the writing style. The way the author makes realistic decisions is refreshing.  The characters know they have feelings for each other; however, they also know that they can't hide from real life and it's problems. This was an enjoyable read.

I’m so frustrated with this book, because it had a really great premise, and the bits that were cute and fun showed how good it could have been if the author had just kept it cute and fun. But no. Instead, we get two main characters with soooo much emotional baggage that they can barely do anything except have internal monologues about how damaged they are (and some dialogue too). The entire book is just them convincing themselves and each other that they can’t be together, even though they really fancy each other. And to fill a few hundred pages with ONLY that, means that the same basic conversations happen over and over and over and over until I just started skimming them in frustration.

And then to make matters worse, the ending is super rushed.

This might be a two star (it was ok) read, but because it irritated me instead of just making me go “meh”, I’m downgrading it to one.

Angie is heading home to Cape Town for the first Christmas since her father’s death. She’s not only sad about missing her father, but she’s carrying a lot of guilt for not being there for her mother and sisters after his passing. On a small town stop she happens to meet Ezra in a diner, and through a series of bizarre and totally avoidable misunderstandings, they end up spending the day together...and maybe falling for each other. This one is long on deep, emotional conversations--all the baggage will be unpacked--so if you’re not in the mood to dig into the feels, keep moving.

Thought this was going to be a cute Christmas story, but my goodness!!! What an emotional roller coaster! Ezra & Angie are perfect for one another 😍

I had a really hard time getting through this book. The constant introspection and at-length discussions between the characters made the pacing drag. Also, Ezra is described as brown skinned when they meet, but there's a white male on the cover? I know authors don't choose their covers a lot of time, but that's a pretty big discrepancy.

A quick, page turning read!

I expected to enjoy this book, but not as much as I currently do. Instalove usually wrecks my nerves, but with this I don't mind. With Ezra and Angie they argued and try rationalize why they shouldn't be together, etc. It wasn't just lovey dovey, it was real and raw, with so many emotions that it becomes overwhelming, with them being back to back.

Ezra, to me, is such a cinnamon roll that I want to protect. I feel like him and I are alike on not wanting to disappoint our family, especially when it comes to relationships. His sense of humor is cute and endearing in some ways.

Angie. I admit I'm on the fence about her, and I'm pretty sure it's because we are like. From our sense of humor (the dry kind were you can't tell if you're joking or being serious.) She and I are more a like and I guess that's why I don't care for her.

Both Angie and Ezra have their own problems and watching them overcome them and helping each other with said problems were so cute to see. They are perfect for each other and I can't imagine them being with someone else.

I highly recommend this book to those who likes a girl who knows what she wants, a cute and funny romance, and a great take on instalove.

2⭐️= fine. A quick read about a far fetched meet cute scenario. I call these type reads “soda” for my reading life……they are good ever once in awhile but I don’t need much of them…..not bc it’s a bad book, rather just not the cup of tea I want to drink all the time.
