Fun read, love women in STEM, kinda loved the mmc good boundaries are hot lol but also he felt like he was very surface level like he didn’t have much substance. Fmc was great, had layers and depth, goals etc and love when you get to see their lives outside of the romance in any romcom. He just felt like, wow 🤩 then I thought about him and was like we really don’t know much about him as a character? I don’t know.
Also major emetophobia warning, i always forget Ali Hazelwood has some sort of throwing up fetish, its mentioned in like every chapter for the first 5 chapters like why? So unnecessary
Liked the story, female character is typical Ali Hazelwood character with some cliches and “wow I don’t know if he likes me” when babes I’m autistic and I can tell he likes you 💀 But its balanced with it not being as cliche/tropey in other ways like strong women in STEM etc.
One spicy scene or rather one part kinda bothered me, it was REALLY consentual (LOVE) like active verbal consent, then it just kinda switched when it came to his pleasure and I was like huh? What happened to verbally saying what is going on?
Loved the academia rep and what its like not rainbows and butterflies.

I loved the Aro/ace and disability representation within this novel, although it could use a bit more work I really hope hazelwood continues writing disabled badass female protags in stem

I’ve previously been kind of “meh” about Hazelwood’s books but I feel like this might’ve been her best one yet. Likeable, relatable characters for the most part, a realistic story arc and actual real-life issues? Great stuff. Not amazing-life changing, but very solid.

I don’t even know how to start this review. First off this is my favourite book of Ali Hazelwood! I mean I love The Love Hypothesis, but I just related to Elsie more. I just related to her overthinking everything, trying to change herself to “make people like her”, and how she is a people pleaser. Jack is literally the most amazing book boyfriend I have ever read. He literally is so patient, kind, reassuring, and just loves Elsie with his whole heart. Like he could read Elsie so well. He knew when something was off right away, he also that he didn’t want to rush things, because it would make her want to run away. He was so patient with being in relationship and how she was scared to have someone truly get her. Jack just helped Elsie open up and be more her which is amazing. I feel like that isn’t written a lot. Literally I probably need someone like Jack, because I like to run away from feelings like Elsie. So, honestly this book gave me some hope, even if he his a fictional character, lol, that maybe I will my Jack. To wrap this up, I think this book will be on my mind for months now. Just the dynamic between the relationships, friendships formed, etc. Plus Elsie & Jack have my heart. Definitely in my top 2 reads of this year!!!! Thank you Ali Hazelwood for always delivering!!!

Um yeah so Ali Hazelwood outdid herself with Love, Theoretically! It’s very science-y (moreso than her others) and I fully accept I didn’t understand the liquid Crystal stuff whatsoever - but that didn’t take anything away from my enjoyment of the novel. I think Elsie and Jack may be my favorite couple she’s written. Plus, the Taylor Swift vibes are really <b>there</b> regardless of the bonus content in the Barnes and Noble edition that assigns Taylor Swift songs to certain chapters.
