I sooooo love books set within a day. There's so much compact action and drama it makes everything just a bit more ridiculous. I would love to see this turned into a movie one day (it reminds me of Project X to a degree). After catching a few references to her other books I'm kind of disappointed I chose to pick up Malibu Rising first, no one told me they were interconnected 🥲 Its wonderful that a book can be so fun, include so many characters and debaucherous behavior, and still hold lots of meaningful character development. When we were introduced to Nina Riva I felt a connection in my SOUL. I so badly wanted to rate this a five, but somehow my is heart just is not into it.

  • Dancing On Quicksand - Bad Suns
  • the  last great american dynasty - Taylor swift

Malibu rising was surprisingly a wonderful book and I really enjoyed reading it! I wouldn’t have picked it up if it wasn’t for the hype but I’m glad I did.

I almost gave up when I started because it is written in a 3rd person narrative. At first I felt like I couldn’t get into the characters because of this but as the story went on I found myself attached to every single sibling and June (Mick and June’s story literally made my heart ache). I really loved the ending too, I definitely recommend!

while my least favorite out of the mick riva trilogy (that is what i choose to call it) it is probably the most relatable and that's probably why i almost cried several times while reading.

As always, Taylor Jenkins Reid mesmerized me with her writing and storytelling! I immediately got attached to  the characters who are described in such a nuanced way. I was rooting for them (especially for Nina!) and felt with them. They are presented in such a reflected and substantial way, that I really feel as if they were actually existing. Their relationships and family dynamic(s) are delicately explored and although quite complicated, still relatable.
Reid's writing is very immersive, each time I'm reading one of her books, I get thrown into her world. She writes down just the perfect details you need for it to feel real (especially the surfing scenes were wonderfully immersive!).
I was just a little bit annoyed by the amount of different POVs we got at the end of the novel... They distracted from the main plot and didn't really bring a lot to the story. But that is the only (and very small) negative point! Otherwise, I really, really loved this novel and found it surprisingly funny.
And I also enjoyed the little shoutouts to the characters of her other novels ;)
