Malibu Rising put into words feelings I didn’t know I had as the oldest sibling pushed into taking care of her younger siblings. I saw much of the selfishness of my mother in Mick Riva and the way June  adored her kids was the way my dad always poured his love into us. When Nina finally came into her own, I felt the power and energy that I too had when I did the same. And that love and protectiveness and the need to take care because if I don’t who will? I feel that love for my siblings daily. Being a parent out of necessity is the greatest gift you can give of yourself. But this book reminded me too that it is important not to give away too much of yourself, not to allow duty to interfere with your own ability to live a life that you love, and that the bond between siblings who’ve been through hell and back can never ever be broken.

absolutely loved this book. no notes for miss TJR. the ending was just so rewarding and i’m so proud of the main cast of characters. the concept is also really cool, i thought it was a great way to tell the story of a family.
