It was definitely hard to follow up the previous book, and this one was definitely a lot slower in comparison. This book is the beginning of their journey that will determine their fates as Vampires, as well as the Vampaneze.

This books is a complete filler. The only character that casts a tiny light of amusement is Lady Evanna. And even her is not a very well defined personality. I can understand erratic, random and neutral entities with quirky perks. She is just an obvious out-of-the-hat inclusion from a legend that was also dimwitted.

All the prophetic element is poorly managed. I would like to be wrong but this feels more a request than a conviction from the author. Let's wait how the story unfolds but so far it is quite a bitter taste after the nice ending of the previous trilogy.

The pacing of this installment was waaaay too slow. The overall plot of the series barely moves along and it takes them half the book (genuinely) to begin their quest. The foreshadowing in this one is also just very heavy handed, but I guess I'm saying that with the benefit of already having read the series.
